When I look under my 04 vibe AWD, I can see a large pan that separates the exhaust from the body. While I was driving tonight, I noticed a loud banging and I believe it is this pan smacking back and fourth. When I got on the ground, I could easily move it.Any thoughts on how this pan should be secured? Is it safe to drive? Thanks!

A co worker with an 05 Vibe spun out in the wet across a curb and ripped than cover out of it's mounts. It vibrated like crazy against the exhaust. The shop she took it to used some heavy duty zip ties covered in a rubber hose to secure it back in place. Good luck with the repair.

It's bolted to the underside of the car. When mine started doing that I had found that an "event" had cut the aluminum where it bolts to the undercarriage. I simply removed the nut and added a larger flat washer, re-bolted into place. Problem solved!Mine broke probably because I drove through a "large" puddle/lake in the road with speed (big splash, great fun). You will need to jack one side of the car completly off the ground or drive up on a curb.
