frozen key ignition(barrel)

so i go out early moning to go out to work and i could nt start my car. i was told that it was told its was where i put my key that was probably frozen. so i get a lighter and heat me key a couple time and then boom the key turned and there goes the vibe its started.but my question is how can i prevent doing this all winter long the heating of the key. can i put like the lock deicer in there or im just ****ed all winter long. lolthanks guys !!

never heard of the issue with the cold, but these cars have steering wheel locks and if you turned the wheel when you shut it off or before starting it, it would have engaged.While engaged, you cannot turn the wheel if it is hard over to either side or turn the key. Next time it happens, try and jocky the steering wheel a lil to either side and i'll bet the key will turn without a problem.

so i went to a lock smith and he knew right away that it was eighter my key wich was worn or just the barrel that needed some lube. so we put some spray lube and it was fine after that worked like a charm
