Really?Nobody knows the answer here? Not one "Hot Rodder"?Not one "Tuner"?What's the deal here?Is it all about cold air intakes, spoilers, and under-drive pulleys or what?

Deleted my reply because you seem to know it all already. Peace

Nope, don't read nothing into the question.Pretty much cut and dry and not vague at all.Do the 2005-2006-2007 Vibe's "speak" CAN or ISO9141?Can't get much clearer than that.Don't want to reprogram the ECU. I know it takes a helluva lot more than an ELM chip to do that and a lot more $$$ to get the spec's to do it. Piggyback's are a stop-gap measure at best. Besides that, I don't see a need to reprogram anything, yet. Well, maybe modify the low rpm/low load maps a tad bit, see if it would help out that tiny bit of shake at idle, but that could have any one of a number of causes and I haven't investigated them all yet.It was 47 hours during the middle of the week. Anybody expecting a 3 hour answer over a weekend outta be slapped upside the head.

Oh...and my '05 Base speaks ISO9141-2, and doesn't support near the number of standard PIDs I would figure an '05 would, at least compared to the number my '01 Ford F150 does. Haven't checked out the 'extended' PIDs yet.

Nope. I don't know it all. FAR, far from it. That's why I asked the question. That's also why AFTER I investigate all the usual causes I can think of for a slightly shaky idle, I will come back and start a new thread asking for more 'usual causes' that I'm not aware of.So, instead of the usual post which goes something like:Slight shaky idle. What's the cause? The thread will go something like this:Slightly shaky idle. Have tried:Full tune up, plugs/filters/etc, pulling codes, cleaning MAF, checking timing, cleaning throttle body, spraying for vacuum leaks, motor/transmission mounts, cleaning ground connections, reseating and cleaning ECU/sensor connections...and so on... Any further ideas?Now...how am I doing?

Any further ideas?Clogged injectors, fuel pump starting to go, clogged fuel filter, improperly gapped spark plugs, bad coil/alternator/battery, idle set too low...As for the ODB ISO-9141 or CAN.... I have no idea Maybe go down to a GM or Toyota dealer and ask one of the techs.

...the guys at Linear-Logic (ScanGauge-IIâ„¢) indicated that the earlier Vibes were a "hidge-podge" of Toyota/GM codes (mostly Toyota, with a few special GM)....and still so with our 2009-2010 Vibes apparently, but now CAN.

The '05 Vibe "speaks" ISO9141-2, as do the 2003-2007 Vibe's...as noted in the 5th post.As far as I could tell while I was messing around with an '03, '05 and '06 today, they are NOT a hodge-podge of Toyota/GM codes. They speak all Toyota codes. I didn't see one GM specific thing in my readings. As far as the shaky idle goes, again, when I complete my checkout, and I don't find anything unusual, I'll throw up another thread with all the info. Until, I'm not going to speculate or ask for opinions, 'cause I can assure you it's got nothing to do with fart-can mufflers, CAIs, or underbody LEDs.

Quote »idle set too low...?????How can you set the idle too low when the RPM is essentially commanded by the ECU?I gotta see this trick...

If you have cable throttle, it should be just a screw. Drive by wire is a little trickier.

DBW here. And if by 'a bit trickier', you mean reprogramming the ECU's definition of idle rpm, then, ok...But even with cable throttle, the only thing I can see doing is rigging it to stick higher. Try to put slack in the line to bring the rev's down and the ECU will command IAC to open up to compensate.
