JD Power Releases Brand Reliability Rankings

J.D. Power and Associates Brand Rankings Tue Jul 8, 4:18 PM ET Link to storyBy The Associated Press How specific brands ranked in J.D. Power and Associates' annual vehicle dependability survey released Tuesday. The study is based on responses from more than 55,000 original owners of 2000 model-year cars and light trucks. The figures represent the number of problems per 100 vehicles. what is the time frame for these propblems per 100 vehicles, 1 year?

Since our Vibe is really a Toyota with Pontiac body panels, I think the Toyota rating (201) would apply to us.

This survey takes into account all issues, not just mechanical. So I'd say we're probably more of a 247 -- above the industry average.

It may be a GM designed interior, but the power window switches, mechnisms, turn signals stalks, cruise and guages all came from the Toyota parts bin. The radio is the exeption along with some of the interior plastic components. My guess is that it is more like 80% Toyota.

quote:My guess is that it is more like 80% Toyota.I dunno...I still wouldn't put it that high...but I don't know enough about the collaboration between the two to comment accurately.Can someone who works with GM or Pontiac give us a better idea what the percentages Pontiac vs. Toyota are?
