Thinking about trading in the VIBE

I am debating whether or not I am going to trade my Vibe in for a Honda Accord EX V6 Coupe. I like the functionality of the vibe, but the Honda is so much more fun to drive and it looks sportier. Also, I am afraid that the Vibe may eventually become another Aztek. In my hometown, They have not sold 1 vibe except mine in 7 months. So, the debate continues.

You should probably buy a car that everyone else in your town likes, forget about your own tastes.

are you being a sarcastic "a" hole. THE accord is the car that i have always wanted and the vibe was a big mistake on my part

It is just a matter of taste and money.I like my vibe a lot but it is not a porsche and with the with a porsche I still could not hall my dog and family around so the vibe is the winner....but a porsche would be nice.

I am only 17 so I don't have a family or dog or other adult things like that to haul around. I want something fun and fast, and the Vibe , so far, has not cut it.

I'm only 4 years older than you but you never know when things can change in my case), one of the reasons I bought my Vibe was practicality (you never know when you need to haul something) and proven reliability of the vehicle's mechanical components. Sure, all vehicles break down or have problems... that's what a warranty is for. quote:I want something fun and fast.Go for it. Gotta make the best of your decisions and learn from your mistakes.

to NSimkins: The thing is, I have other cars that can haul things. I also have a 97 f-150, adn 2001 Acura MDX (SUV), and a 2002 GMC Envoy. SO the hauling factor doesn't really effect me.

Well then I guess it is all up to you then... being that you are covered for the hauling aspect, owning another vehicle shouldn't pose any burdens.

im not trying to sway you one way or the other, but if you wanted sporty and fast why did you get the AWD model. Trust me when i say this all of my friends that run around in Rice Burners are amazed at the way that the Vibe GT performs. I let my friend who owns a WRX, motor trends most enjoyable car to drive, drive my Vibe, and he said it was a damn fun car to run around in. Try trading in your AWD for a GT, the GT is actually cheaper than the AWD, isn't it?yogi

SO the hauling factor doesn't really effect me.First off let me get this straight. You have a 97 f-150, adn 2001 Acura MDX (SUV), and a 2002 GMC Envoy all at 17 years of age? Which is more than what most working people have unless and don't take this the wrong way but unless mommy and daddy are rich and give there spoiled kids anything they want. I'm not saying this is you so don't take it that way but DAMN. Now you have added to your collection a vehicle that is so popular that there is a 3 to 4 month wait on it and the manufacturer can't keep up with demand. Now your more worried about what other people in your town think and sales in your town of the vehicle you own. I don't get it. You have a car that all most no one in your town has and with a few minor bolt ons will spank most vehicles. Bolt on a West Corvine Turbo and you'll be beating most V-8s.I'm still in shock about the vehicles you said you own. I mean I'm 25 married, am enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and can hardly afford the one car my family has now and your concerned what other people think about what you drive.Ok I'm done. I'll appologize because I have gone off topic and just can't beleive this topic is even a issue.Oh by the way you keep saying the Honda Accord coupe V-6 has better performance but I just looked up the 0 to 60 time and it's 8.0. The Vibe GT has a 0 to 60 time of 7.3 so not sure why you'd say it has better performance. Plus the Accord is a lot heavier than the Vibe. Also the Base Vibe does 0 to 60 in 8.5 and with a few basic bolt ons that could be easily below 8.0 So in other words the Vibe is faster and performs better from the 0 to 60 times and also handles better since it weighs about 500 pounds less than the Accord. It is pretty much Toyota everything so I'm not sure where you say it wont be reliabe but once again I'm going off topic.

So, I guess you changed your mind about putting flames on the car, selling your tires to Frosty, changing your horn and upgrading your stereo?Who actually owns the Vibe, you or your parents? Just asking since in one post you said that your parents bought the Vibe but you paid for it.Hey, life is full of mistakes, just don't forget to learn from them. Now is a good time to trade it in, since the Vibe is in high demandand since you got the car for only $16,500, you stand to make out pretty good on the trade.

Does anyone actually believe that this kid owns all of these cars? If I wanted to list all of the cars that my parents and my neighbors and other cars that I thought were cool and say that I owned all of them, I don't think it would be believeable. If he is only 17, he is either a spoiled little brat that gets any kind of car that he wants, or he works at McDonalds and can't afford his brand new Vibe and it opting to trade it in on a 1983 Honda Accord with a V6 and rice it out.

I must also tell all of you that my family gets about 20% off all GM cars, that is why I bought the Vibe adn why we have and Envoy. If it wasn't for that discount, we would have such nice cars. Also, why do people get so DAMN mean? Sorry if I pissed anyone off, but that wasn't my intent. I just wanted to see what people would think about trading in a Vibe.

If you're part of some special deal where you gt 20% off new GM vehicles, are you sure you are allowed to trade it in so early? I would imagnine that if you're part of a program like that, GM might make you sign something agreeing not to sell it for a specified time. Otherwise, you could make a business out of buying GM cars and selling them back.

Well if you really want to sell it so bad then at least try to sell it to a member here that doesn't have one but really wants one. Then everybody wins.

If you really want something fun to drive. Stay away from anything with an auto tranny. The slush box significantly decreases the fun factor IMHO. Although, I don't disagree in the choice of a Honda. It is going to be much more reliable vehicle than the Vibe.

man you really need to lighten up, people are just giving you a hard time because you are reating the way you do when they make comments. plus when you say nonchalantly that you have three towing vehicles at your disposal it makes people think that you are spoiled. you just have to look at stuff with an open mind from both sides and get that chip off you shoulder.oh yeah all my friends thought the vibe sucked too, until i took them for a ride in it. yogi

I probably should lighten up, but it really gets me mad when people start saying things that have no truth and have no place in a forum. I will lighten up, and I realize that people her are kinda mad at me because I am saying that I want to get rid of my vibe, which they all own. So, I understand. Sorry if i came across as an Spoiled *******. That was not my intent.

if you wanna trade the vibe, do it . Hondas are very reliable cars. Everyone in the world has Accords and civics and they soupe them up and they enhance them and they look like everyone elses accord or civic. I hava a vibe GT. None of my friends like it. But it is MY car and i am ultimately the one that has to be happy. and i am. If you are unhappy with the vibe then by all means trade it in. But don't make some excuse about performance or practicality. That is why all these people are getting upset. They all adore their vibes as i do and they get upset when you cut down on it. If you want to get rid of it then do it. But be honest. you want to get rid of it becuase you don't like it. I got rid of my 2001 explorer cause the payments were too high and the gas mileage was too low. I got the vibe cause i wanted too and i love the decision that i made and the fact that there are many options or atleast will be many options available to customize it and make it my own.

A car is not an impulse purchase for most of us, and we put a fair amount of thought into where we spend our money. Your "I'm tired of my car and want a Honda now" message will understadably tick a fair number of readers off. Some of us may find your position a little immature and take a few potshots at you - boo-hoo! If you start a troll, expect to take a few hits. Now go have mommy & daddy buy you a shiny new toy.Larry

It's ok. some people are just alittle jealous. For when I showed up at work. Someone made a comment that I married for money. Just because they couldn't afford a new car. Enjoy life not all can afford life and what it gives them. But beware you may fall. and always remember there is someone out there that need just a small thing like a toothbrush or a meal.

I'm wondering if his parents will just say" Sure son, we'll get rid of that car and dump 25K for something else." At 17, I'd be damn happy to have any car, let alone a new one. Did he influence the purchase of the AWD version?? I'd think at that age I'd be going for a GT? If you can get the Accord...Which is totally redone for 2003....More power to ya!!!

Accord V6 instead of the VIBE??? I'd go with the Nissan Altima V6 instead of an Accord. 240 hp + torque + styling + more room + 3000$ less = HOT SPORT SEDAN. VIBE = HOT COMPACT WAGON not exactly the same category of car. Did I also mention that the Honda acoord is one the most boring FAMILY sedans built? The all new 2003 accord will hopefully be Honda's best chance to finaly have a stylish car but Honda's styling departemant should be burnt down to the ground for their uninspireing cars. You see, I bought my Vibe because I wanted something that was Hatchback so I could haul stuff and since I can't afford 3 50000$ trucks (20% rebate or not), a Vibe will do just fine. I also wanted something sporty and that explains why I went with the GT with 180 hp instead of 4wd with 127? hp. Also,an accord is least 3000-10000$ more than a Vibe. At those prices, why not go for something even sportier like a MR2 Spyder or a Celica, miata, S2000? A used Porsche maybe? Then again, if you can afford to buy an Accord V6 than please do so. At 17 I had an 8 year old 70?hp VW Rabbit and I was the happiest person in the world to own that car and with only 70hp, it avoided an early answer to the question "Is there something after life?"I just have to ask, why does your family need three 4x4 for? I can't imagine needing ONE of these GAS GUZZLERS let alone three. When you go up to your vacation home, does Daddy drive the Acura so he can haul the motor-home and your Mom drives the Explorer to pull the yacht and then your brother dirves the F150 to carry the new 2003 yamaha dirt bikes you just got but you wished you'd of gotten honda dirt bikes instead and them and you tag along in the BRAND NEW VIBE in which you don't need to carry anything but you are only thinkin of how you wished you'd of gotten the much sportier and cooler Honda accord. Give me a break. If I had that much mulla, I'd own no more than one of these ugly 4X4 and instead sell the two other trucks. I would buy a Porsche for some weekend drives or as car for my wife to go do some shopping at Chanel. As to the question you had about why there is so much aggresivity towards you. What did you expect asking this question in a Vibe forum? Did you think we were all going to say "Oh, geez yeah, trade in for an accord because that was the car I really wanted because it's like the coolest car to buy but I was also like forced into waiting weeks for a Vibe instead. Party on dude"?Last but not least, If I were your parents and I would hear that you are not happy with your the new car I bought you, I would sell it and buy you a USED 10 speed bicycle so you could HUMBLE UP.I am very doubtfull about the veracity of everything you are saying but I wanted to give you my opinion. Take it or leave it.Peace,Ryan

Just a quick note, the new 2003 Accord is going to be totally redone. The new V-6 is said to be around 240 horsepower, just like the Altima

I just received my Motor Trend magazine and they have a picture of the new Accord. Let's just say they will be aiming the 50-75 year old buyer base again. Yes the V6 will be 240hp but it will cost a fortune. There will also be a 6 speed manual transmission available. That will help in the fun factor but the styling just kills it.Ryan

Sell the vibe. Buy an accord. Let someone who likes the vibe because of its "uniqueness" own your vehicle. People like you should have never had your parents purchase the vibe in the 1st place.
