"New" Vibe owner

Hi, everyone. I've only just recently came across this site. I unexpectedly became a Vibe owner earlier this year. After owning it for roughly 7 months I can easily say that I am in love. I had owned a 2000 Ford Escort ZX2 and after 8 years of throwing money into that money pit I decided I wanted a nicer, newer and more dependable car. So, here we are. Already had my first door ding last month...right in the driver's side fender -- yes, in that beautiful crease. Luckily, the guys at my local GM dealer fixed me up and did a PDR for $80 and you can't even tell it's there. Other than that, I've had a few problems. My volume knob broke (thank goodness for the warranty!) Now, it seems I have a tear in the weather seal in my hatch. Its near the hinge for the hatch and I'm wondering if this was caused by some sort of pinching during opening and closing of the hatch ... ? *sigh* Off to GM we go. Also, where in the heck can I get the cup holder inerts for the console? GM?

Welcome to GenVibe! You found a great-looking car! Glad to hear the door ding was fixed so easily and cheaply! Those console inserts to make the cup holder spaces are GM part numbers 19184893 (rear) and 19184894 (front). Your GM dealer should be able to order them for you. But the list price is something like $48 each - geez! I'd try ebay or aftermarket ... some source ought to have a better price than that!

If you could find 2009-2010 Vibes and/or Matrices in a junkyard, you should be able to snag the cup holder inserts for under $10.00 . As far as the volume knob, this has been a common defect for many 2009-2010 owners here. There are quite a few threads on the topic, including this one which has a how-to for replacing the knob/s yourself.

Nice CLEAN Vibe If you're handy with woodworking and have access to a table saw, then you could easily make up a couple of those cheezy dividers (AKA cup holders) and get you buy for nothing The few times I've needed to use the cupholders it seems that I never can quite get the fit to be "just right". It's either too big or too small for the beverage at the time. One of my future mods (I have so many lined up) will be a complete revamped center console, to where I Start from scratch and will sell off my original OEM console. This will likely be a year or two away and is currently LOW on the priority mod list. Oh did I welcome you to this great site? Welcome and visit often

Thanks for the responses, everyone. Yeah, I'm glad the PDR was a cheap and quick fix. I was totally heartbroken to come out of the store to see that huge dent -- about 4-5 inches long and about 3 inches wide. As for finding cupholder inserts in a junk yard that might be nearly impossible. Don't see many (if any at all) Vibes or Matrices (lol) in a junk yard around here. How I made it through college and life up to this point with out my Vibe is mind boggling. I sold my treadmill today and had to deliver it to the person's home. Of course, the treadmill collapses for easy storage. The Vibe handled it with no problems and tons of room to spare. Man, I love this car!

If the original poster is willing to ship, you could probably get the cup holder inserts for cheap from them.

Thanks for the info, dear! Fingers crossed that they have the inserts. It seems most of the new Vibes don't have the inserts. Was that an optional purchase or are they easily broken/misplaced?

They most likely were displaced and lost, they are small and light

Thanks for the info, guys! I'm checking on a salvage that was posted on another thread but if all else fails I'll give GM a ring.

Give Toyota a ring. No need to spend almost $100 when you can get them for under $40. Besides Toyota made the car
