Well, this is a start to my garage. I'll add in some pics of the mods and goodies ASAP.I copied KITT222's garage to get the layout... All the info is mine.

Thumbs up on the mods you done, the planned mod choices, the 5-spd, the 1st generation-ness, the color, the tint, etc..Come to think of it - Wow - great car, in my opinion!

Glad to see that my layout helped you! I'm eager to see pics. Sounds like a great start so far.

Maybe... My old 1975 beetle. My new 1972 beetle will have a 2.3l quad 4 bored stroked and supercharged to 2.6l and 300 hp.

Alternative to harness adapters for the front speakers. I hope the pics work.

Nice job there on the front speaker adapters. I should've thought of that when I gutted mine to put the infinities in.

Got the Sub hooked up. Need to re-run part of the main power wire as it missed the grommet (darn grommet popped out of the hole!!), but, it will do for now until I can get some time to re-do it properly. I must say, it's so loud I actually had to set the bass at a -8 on the headunit, since it controls the sub amp now.On with some pics...

nice! question... i have been trying to find some good instructions on the brake bypass for the Pioneer decks. Can you please either help or guide me on how to do the brake bypass?

eBay or amazon look up pioneer brake bypass. It's a relay that turns on the ground after the unit is turned on via the remote lead. To use the "auto eq" you will also need to wide in a switch that grounds the ebrake while the unit is off for a few minutes. Or temp disconnect the relay. I just tuned my with my ears.

Well, yesterday I got my first CEL with her. P0133 O2 sensor. Still under warranty (Bosch), so, I'll try another one since its free. This will be the fourth sensor in her life since build date with the original lasting longest. In other news, I upped the idle to 1000-1100 rpm to make dead starts easier. I was actually able to feather the clutch and have the car move at this RPM. I don't think MPG will suffer as how often do you just idle anyway. I am looking into apps that turn my iPhone into a super scan gauge, this way I can reset and diagnos codes when/if they appear. Finally, I'm trying to come up with a proper name for her. Something that fits her personality. I'll have something ASAP.

Brought the idle down to 750 as per the shop manual (Yes, I have the official GM shop manual, My dad bought it as soon as it was available).The CEL is still on, will be reset Thanksgiving weekend and yer ANOTHER O2 sensor will be going in it. I'm thinking it's getting close to time for a new CAT.On a side note, the sub in my car is from my old car, it was loud in there. Yesterday I was leaving work and a good song came on so I cranked the volume... Is it a common thing for your rearview to suddenly point down to the floor? With my Iphone and my JL Sound meter APP, I was hitting 135db real time at 1/3 octave at LESS volume. I'm thinking at a proper volume I'd be close to 140db. After I get some decent mods going, I'm thinking some sound deadener to make things less rattle and buzz.On another note... I am still on a name search. I have been kicking around super hero names, names of Goddess', Demons, funny names, and serious names. Progress rear sway bar just received in the mail Friday. Will probably go on over Christmas, depends on what vehicle we take to Ohio.

Just ordered my Cosmo CAI and throttle body spacer. Springs and struts soon, then pulleys and header/ cat back.

Nice lookin vibe! I noticed you & I have the same indash touch screen, did u buy yours online or at your local audio store?? Any thoughts about putting an overlay over your side reflector on your headlights? Thinkin that will look good with the bodycolor or black.

I got my head unit from Amazon, installed it myself. I'm not sure on the overlays, it's hard to match Salsa in vinyl, and black is too much contrast to the Salsa.The CAI and TB Spacer are my Christmas gift from my wife. I had to buy it to make sure she got the right stuff. I'm starting to make more money at work, so, the other mods are speeding along.

Gave it a name... Red Mist.I'm going to paint some engine cover pieces this winter I think, something to make it a little custom.I'm going to use that plastic primer stuff from Krylon (I think it is) and do the engine cover in the body color with the lettering in black with a bordering color.

Spacer is on, IMMEDIATE improvement, smoother idle, noticeable power increase (can take off from a dead stop with no throttle and feathering clutch), faster throttle response. I can't wait until I can take it out on the road and try out the improvement. I may have the CAI on this week still, if it's as easy as the spacer was, it should just take me an evening.Pics to come ASAP.

CAIs are easy. I did one mine within an hour.

Yeah, but, I have to cut off 1"!!! Lol

The CAI is easier with the 1" off if you ask me. It was a PITA otherwise...

It was still a pain in the rear, but, it's in and I can take off with out pushing the throttle!!! Oh, and the sound!!! it will be 50 degrees tomorrow... road trip!!!

I like when the car has the "blow off" with the TB spacer with CAI when you get on it...

just got back from a quick drive. MUCH more low end, I found myself spinning the tires from a takeoff in anticipation of the motor stalling and giving a bit of throttle. I also found myself, in 40 degree weather, driving with my window down just to hear the roar of the engine. That BOV sound, just like on my Sunfire with the cold air, only MORE. I was winding it out to 6000RPM just to listen to it scream. IMO the Throttle body spacer and CAI are well worth the install headaches (the CAI fitting was solved with careful clocking towards the fender and 2" pipe inside the filter to be trimmed at a later date).

Spacer and Cosmo CAI installed, Only recent change is the sticker is on the intake and rear gate.

Since last reports, I have purchased Tein S-tech springs, a DC Sports strut bar, alutec lightweight pulley, and a HO alternator. Will post picsOf the "stash" ASAP.

So, I tried to do a bypass bypass on my head unit so I could use the auto eq function. All I ended up doing was cutting my parking brake detection wire. Now I've got to take the HU out AGAIN and fix my screw up. I'll get this to work. This I vow.

The alternator may not go on due to a messed up center shaft, I can only get about 35 ft.lbs. on it, it needs about 85 to reach spec. it looks like it got the vise grip treatment at some point in it's life. We are going to try a belt wrench on the pulley and pray it holds long enough.

Other than that, the header should be here in about a week, then, I need a day to get it on the car. it may be easier to use the lift at my dad's house, I'll have to look things over before I decide to take the trip for the install.

Awesome!!!! Header arrived today. Maybe I'll get it installed this weekend. I'm told it can install from the top down, I guess we'll see. Lol

I have the same head unit as you do. Nice choice.

Header is in and I added photos to the facebook album. I'm happy that every mod has added power and MPG. Just have the catback to go. $500 for the stainless steel model isn't too bad. That and a day on the lift, the better exhaust clamp (strap style), and the trip to the garage (3 hours drive).

I'm starting the hunt for the GM supercharger. There seem to be a few place left that still have some in stock, Summit racing still offers the automatic kit, just wondering what else I'll need since I have a manual.

Got the Magnaflow on in a couple hours this morning, ahead of the storm. Toughest part was having to replace the supplied clamp with an autozone one. I had to take the muffler back off to put the seal clamp on the rear section (whoops).

Sounds real good, quiet unless you tell it otherwise.

Now, it's raining so I wont be able to give it a proper test until later.

Test done. Marked improvement, seems to have a lot more power off idle. From 55-65 (60-70 in reality LOL) in 5th, pulled real strong. Was that unless I would downshift, a hover round scooter was able to pass me, now, the acceleration is smooth and substantial, like a car with a decent sized motor.

Kinda excited to get the supercharger now, just can't forget the motor mounts to complete that as well.

WOW! OK, I'm fairly new to GenVibe, but this might just be the nicest rig I've seen. Good Work. I am not quite the tinkerer that you appear to be, but I am making some changes on my 2005 Base 1.8 "Moon & Tunes" Vibe.
A few questions:
The Cosmo CAI... why this instead of the K&N CAI? And, you had to cut off 2" to allow install? The Cosmo seems to be about half the price of the K&N Typhoon CAI.
I love that Pioneer touch screen audio you've got. A few years ago I installed (shop installed) a P.O.S. Parrot MkI9200 bluetooth. It is such junk, and cost me over $500 in the end, firmware crashes 5 plus times each use. Does your Poineer bluetooth connect to your phone? Dockable to an iPod?

The Cosmo needed some material removed to allow for the throttle body spacer to be installed, I think it was around an inch. The Cosmo also fits fairly well, some complained about the fit of the Injen and others. I don't know about the K&N, I thought it was just a drop in and not a complete CAI. Sometime later I may trim some from inside the filter, if I remember to.

As for the headunit, it doesn't come with bluetooth, but, it can be added on. If you buy the pioneer cable, you can hook up an Iphone/Ipod. The cable also allows for the Pandora interface and video playback through youtube, and the I-device as well. Pioneer also has navigation, and other addons to make the unit very versatile.

My only complaint with it is, my TOM TOM app doesn't port into the video for the headunit, yet. Motionx GPS, does though

Well, the exhaust sits a bit close to the heat shield in front of the axle, about 1/2" from it in fact. Under severe engine shuddering, it rattles. it's got to be very severe though, as I moved the tailpipe about 2" and just got it to hit. I'll retighten the clamps (put 100 or so miles on it since the install) and check position in the morning before the meet.
