cruise lite blinks cruise will not engage again

While driving with cruise on, but not engaged, lite starts to blink, and cruise will not engage unless turned off and then back on. this started recently, any ideas?

My Lexus did this recently, after having the brake light switch replaced. Turned out the replacement brake light switch was defective. The CC has to have a circuit thru the brake light system so that it will disengage when the brakes are applied. Check to see that all of your brake lights are working, in researching this I found out that even burned out lights can confuse the CC.Both the Vibe and Lexus are Toyota, I would imagine the CC system is pretty much the same.

It could also be a speed sensor thing. I know that if you have VSC it should have a speed sensors at every wheel. I know that my Cruise has the same weirdness, but that's due to the fact that I removed the governor via the unichip which basically tricks the speed senors.
