2003 Sunroof leak - not the drain?

Have a leaking sunroof. No one in the area will deal with it, other than the dealer, who said it might be cracked - a new one will run $1500, which seems a bit pricey. They say it isn't the drain hoses. Anyone else have this problem, or have any suggestions? I was thinking about having it replaced with a slightly larger manual sunroof? It has 90000 miles on it. Only thing I ever had to fix is the air conditioner. Thanks in advance for any feedback!!

welcome to genvibe and sorry it's taken anyone so long to respond.$1500 is a lot. I almost never use mine, if my only option was to pay $1500 I might buy some sealant/caulk and stop the leak that way, but that would make it so it couldn't be opened. You said nobody in the area will deal iwth it, have you tried a body shop instead of mechanic? most of the task is removing and reinstalling interior trim.

I don't buy it. The drain is almost always the problem. He checked them all and actually tested them with water?? Before shelling out $1500 I'd for sure pull the head liner and make sure that all of the hoses are intact and CONNECTED to the corner drain pipes.Sometimes well meaning but idiotic "mechanics" (using the term loosely) will shoot 120 pounds of compressed air into a drain. If it is plugged, something has to give and what happens is that the hose pops off of the pipe. Any future water will simply drain onto your headliner. It's a lot of work to drop a head liner but doing so could save you some significant $$$'sDave

Thanks for your replies. Appreciate it. The drain is connected. I ran water into the drain and it came out the bottom of the car, but it was dripping from the seam that ran along the side of the car. There was a lot of debris behind the tire (pine needles, dirt, leaves, etc.) I've started a new post to try to discover where the drain is supposed to be on the bottom of the car. Thanks, again, for your suggestions.
