I actually quite like the way the Baja looks. Plus it's the closest thing the US has had to the El Camino in a while. It's really a shame that the Holden Ute isn't coming over anymore now that Pontiac is dead.

Another list, but not a very good list. I could find 5 or six to replace some on that list.p.s. I like the Baja too.

I don't agree with the Baja either. I've owned 3 Subarus over the years and am kinda partial to 'em. Give me a turbo with a manual and I could surprise a few people. I would have seriously considered one but my wife, of course, thinks they're ugly. That and it's only a 4-seater.

What a pedestrian and safe list. There are plenty of cars far uglier than these.I like the Baja a bit, too.

He called the K car boring. He obviously never drove one with air shocks and glass packs. Never will I forget the looks on folks faces when I romped on it at a stoplight...lol.

Most of them are older than me. They need to make a current list. Most ALL old cars were ugly compared to new ones.

Some are crap cars. But the go-against-the-grain part of me would gladly accept any of the AMC offerings (rather than some highly sought-after car that everyone has to have. ) I saw a "brand new" Concord, window sticker still on it and everything, going down the interstate on a trailer recently. It was gorgeous and had obviously been put away for many, many years. Why, I don't know - but it sure was cool. Anywho, you know this guy is full of it when he says "fairly handsome" and Yaris in the same sentence.

Theres always a AMC & pontiac on the ugly car list.....LOL. Why did they leave out the AMC Gremlin, I have no clue why. If I had the choice I drive a Pacer before a Gremlin.

Quote, originally posted by cptnsolo77 »Was it a turbo?A 2.5L turbo was optional starting in MY04.From edmunds:"Power was provided by a 2.5-liter flat-4 that made a respectable 165 horsepower and 166 pound-feet of torque. A five-speed manual transmission was standard, with a four-speed automatic optional. Although the 2.5 had decent output, there's only so much thrust it could furnish while saddled with nearly 3,700 pounds of all-wheel-drive Subie. Our testing netted a 0-60 time of 9.9 seconds (with the manual gearbox) -- about equal to a compact V6 pickup of the day.The following year, the Baja Turbo debuted. Fitted with a turbocharged version of the 2.5, it sported 210 hp and 235 lb-ft of torque. The Baja Turbo was more than 2 seconds quicker to 60 mph and a lot more fun to drive. An Edmunds road test quote sums it up nicely: "It's not quite a performance car, but it's a lot more fun to drive than most other pickups or SUVs."I had a '04 Forester XT with the same turbo engine. That thing would move for a SUV. There was a lot of talk on Subaru forums that the engine was underrated. It was believed it made more like 230 hp, but I don't know if that was ever proven or just conjecture.

I said the same thing, the Subaru doesn't look that bad at all.

Another crap list made by another hack. There was and is nothing ugly about the AMC Eagle especially the wagon which was a over built no nonsense. real 4WD. As for looks the wagon looked just like every other wagon in the late 1970's to late 1980'sThe Aztek is ugly but everybody knows that. The Baja looks nice but if i was the designers, I would have dumped those metal bars on the back and made an optional rear cap available. Now as to why I think the writer is a hack, he says the Toyota Echo is ugly (he is correct) but say the Toyota Yaris is hot. That Yaris is just as ugly if not more then the Echo it replaced. Face it the Yaris only has two things going for it, high MPG and reliability

I tend to agree, not so much that it's ugly, just disproportionate. It's too tall and narrow. As for the AMC Eagle, I worked for AMC/Jeep/Renault back in the '80's and while the Eagle may have been the first attempt at what we know of today as a crossover, especially the wagon, it drove more like a work truck and was not very well built or reliable. And that was after years of building them. They were at best, primitive. They were an AWD version of the Hornet... another winner.

I'd rather look at any car on that list instead of a Nissan Cube

You are right the Eagle was not tops in the reliability department but it was not a bad looking car especially for the times. The author is saying the car is ugly and it was by no means ugly All cars looked boxy in the late 1970's to 1980's. Putting a 1981 Eagle wagon next to a 1981 Malibu wagon or Ford LTD Wagon would show that they all had the same basic profile.I wonder why Toyota did not make the Yaris look more sculptured like the Scion XA or the Scion XD?

I don't know which is uglier. The Nissan Cube or the Nissan Juke. One looks like a fish tank and the other has too many headlights going on. Yuck. I think the Yaris is actually cute but too tiny for my taste. The HB Yaris is completely useless. I'd actually considered a HB Yaris when I was still car shopping but the whole point of me going from a 2-door coupe to a HB was for the room. Definitely not something you get with the Yaris; but, still cute and great MPGs. There are far uglier cars and the person that made this list should have included the 80s Mustang. Shew!
