Serj22 (Allowances) New Vibe G-Rage

Great news, just got a different car for the family car, a Grand Cherokee, much better for storing baby strollers and what not, so almost the next day, I started having these accidents, like painting, and trimming, and cleaning, and modifying... on the 2004 Vibe 5spd...(sorry about picture quality, only have an android at the moment, camera is dead)First ditched the Hub caps, pulled the wheels, and did a nice hammered semi-gloss black paint job on them, made a custom decal from a long strip of CF vinyl, then Mar-hyde on the bumpers, sanded smooth and sprayed satin black. Thin 1/4" red stripe to finish, looks good for now, Audi style LED's in headlights as well. Once i started, after 2 days I had this, but couldn't stop:2-Toned interior: Red and Carbon Fiber, complete with steering wheel from my old civic. Installing cruise control switch on the hub hopefully later today...Ignore the mess, the side window control covers have the same styling, and the door sails are CF finished. And then right up front and center, not sure if I will remove the CF from the lower part that surrounds the shifter or not and replace with red. How it is is pretty satisfactory so far. And finally I have started work on making Voltz badges, well, one. For the front. The back pontiac engraving will be filled in with a Toyota emblem across, and then I will have to find the lettering for the actual "Voltz" stuff. Basically just took the pontiac cheapy plastic emblem off the front, covered it in several layers of plastic putty, then glossed it off smooth by working on it for 2 hours with 220 gritt. Then will come making the "V" emblem on top of the new better looking surface. Here it is almost done with the polishing and shaping process... Still working on it though...SHould also add in engine bay shots, though it's been liek this for a while. And my clever sub removal prongs outlet:

I'd say the first attempt turned out pretty close. I will need to readjust the black vinyl a little to center. It's super hard to tell where that is. The emblem sticks out more now with a 3d effect (ish thing)

Looks good. One question, how do you know where your dial is set on the hvac dial? I like the CF, is it a vinyl or actual CF wrap?

It's a 3d textured vinyl. I got 6ft x 1.5ft roll off ebay for $4.00.It looks really good IMO, and pretty close to a dry carbon effect. Wrapping them in actual would probably make it hard to fit the pieces back in where they go. The vinyl is much thinner and super easy to work with. I did have to break apart the center console portion because the controls were mated with the piece that wraps around the shifter. Much easier to wrap as two seperate pieces. As for the HVAC, I've been experimenting with the vinyl (I still have quite a bit more) and scratching a lot of the backing off so just the thin CF texture is present. IT is quite translucent. AS of now the controls are invisible due to the material. I will eventually figure out a way for the light from the diagrams to shine through. We'll see what happens. IT may not work. I just sort of know where the controls are right now.

That is definitely a mean looking Vibe! That two-tone looks great! As for the HVAC controls, maybe try brighter lights behind them.

Thanks, as for the brighter light thing, I tried it, off the car of course... did not work. Am experimenting more with the original scratching idea. Or I may Use plexiglass sprayed down with nightshades and wrap circular rings around them, then cut the carbon to fit underneath the plexi-circles. When the light is on behind them it should shine through enough in theory.

Lowered, with a new bike rack, more fogs, and a black stock hood... till I can find a better one or get the replacement part painted... And since my old camera didn't do the dashboard justice...

Iwill get some pics tonite. 3 of them on one side burned out which was rather depressing. Not sure what happened. They still look good though. Once I change over to all white lighting it should be rather nice.

Much appreciated. Those particular ones were I think $4.00 a strand on ebay. Very reasonable.
