This was a big weekend to remember the 9/11 tragedy. Living near and working in the great Navy city of Norfolk Virginia, I was able to tour the U.S.S Cole. It was a very moving experience. There were 17 brass stars on the mess deck floor to honor the 17 sailors who were killed that day. The mess deck was destroyed by the explosion, and most who died were in that area. I used to serve in the Navy, and I always took my safety for granted. You feel kind of invincible on those war ships. Sorry, I don't have pics. I just wanted to share with my genvibe friends.

...naval aviation here (ATW/ATR, aircrewman (AC), not pilot), but my father was a tin-can gunners mate during WWII aboard the U.S.S. Allen M Sumner.
