I have ABS and I really dont like it, I like having full control of the brakes, is there a way to get rid of the abs equipment? maybe it seems alittle weird to get rid of it but after having my 90 Mustang GT without ABS and drivin in iowa winters and not havin problems it just seems useless and lazy to have it
How do you drive?!?ABS only activates in a panic, lock the wheels up situation (or wet roads and ice when the pavement is very slippery and wheels tend to slide easily).I have an 07 Vibe, drive all year, including icy winters and wet roads, and in four years can count on one hand the number of time that ABS has activated. You might consider getting the unit checked out? If it is fine, consider how aggressively you brake and drive and make some modifications.FYI, ABS is a time proven life saver in panic situations. It will control your car better than you can, bringing it to a fast straight line stop and not skid out of control. You can disable most ABS systems but you didn't tell us what you are driving. It is also short sighted and foolish to disable it as well. Sorry to tell you but in this instance, the machine is better than the human.....any human!Dave
Ya, I would agree. ABS was the only option I required when shopping for my Vibe. Like djkeev, have not been in many emergency/panic braking situations in the last 7 years, but it proved very helpful the few time when I did need to. Just my two cents.
I have an 04 AWD, I didnt know it just came on under hard braking conditions, it rattles at low speed and is choppy braking at low speed, I looked at everything checked the rotors on a flat surface and they arent warped unless they are a tiny bit, the last thing I wanted to check before a mechanic was the abs

I'm not sure of the 04's about exactly what on board diagnostics you may have but I know the 07's are fairly extensive. You've got problems with the system if it is acting up as you say. It is NOT normal at all. Please post what you find the problem is to help others with similar issues.Good LuckDave
I find if I go around a sharp corner at a high rate of speed the abs will come on if I even touch the brakes... mind you the VSC would have kicked in long before that (but I never drive with it active)... this usually happens when I take a freeway entrance ramp with spirit (shall we say)! You could always just pull the fuse to the ABS system.
