GM vs. Toyota Part Numbers

Hi everyone. So I've got a cracked exhaust manifold on my 2006 Vibe (1ZZ-FE). I'm working on getting the part, and that's where I'm a bit curious. I found the part that GM says I need- part 88969034- on gmpartsgiant.com (for $130 less than what the dealer quoted me for the same thing). What I'm wondering is whether I can get the corresponding Toyota part (part # 171040D040) and install it instead. I don't figure it would make a difference, as the engines are the same. I just want to be sure before plunking down several hundred dollars on a part. Not to mention I don;t want to prolong the time we drive with this cracked manifold any longer than absolutely necessary. My local Toyota dealer couldn't determine whether the parts would be a match, but I'm (almost) convinced that it'd be the same part.Any thoughts?

It is my understanding that most (if not all) parts (except for external parts) for our Vibes are manufactured by Toyota and resold by GM with a different part number. I would think they are identical parts, unfortunately neither dealer will give you a straight answer on that. Is the Toyota part cheaper than the GM one? Hopefully someone on here can answer from past experience, but I would just buy the cheapest one regardless of 'make.' Every part I have replaced on my Vibe has been purchased from Toyota and I've yet to encounter any problems. Good luck!

Thanks. The Toyota part is cheaper and available from our local Toyota dealer. I'm going with the Toyota part.

Awesome, be sure to let us know how it goes. If you are buying local, worse case scenario I would think you could return the part in the event it doesn't fit?
