I know there are quite a few audio pro's on here. I enjoy all the posts! Figured I'd run this question by all of you. I'm going to replace the front (with Pioneer TS-GS1643R) and rear door speakers (JVC CSHX638) very soon. Both sets are 6 1/2's BTW. While I'm at it I thought about 'sound deadening' the doors while the door panels are off. Do you guys recommend it? I've read and understand it'll help with better bass and stop/help rattles. Is that true for those out there that have done it? Which product(s) do you recommend to use for that. My existing doors rattle A LOT now! I'm thinking maybe the stock speakers have blown and those are what's rattling. Of course the new speakers will sound way better - I just hope the rattle(s) go away!I'll also add 6 X 9's (Pioneer TS-A6983R's) in back. For time saving I'll use pre-made boxes for now but may custom build some later. I've read lots of reviews these speakers are awesome and have pretty good bass. Eventually I'll probably add a Sub...Anyway, any tips, thoughts, suggestions are much appreciated.

Oh, forgot to also ask - how much sound deadening material will I need to do the front/rear doors. I'm assuming they calc that type of material in Sq Ft??? Thanks all

Damplifier Pro from Second Skin Audio... great product better and cheaper than Dynamat Extreme in my opinion. I have that in my front doors and think it made a noticeable difference.They sell door packs as a basic guideline. I put extra in mine though Hope to do some mass loaded vinyl on the floor/firewall/wheel well areas eventually.http://www.secondskinaudio.com/

Thanks for the info Blanco... I'll check it out. I can get a good price on the Metra 'Ballistic' brand but I'm not sure about the quality there. Anyone try that brand yet? I'll see if anyone else chimes in and price out the Second skin products. Thanks again and have a good one!

Wow! 2' X 4 ft for 26 bucks? Does it REALLY require only 1 sheet per door? Glad I read this post!!!

One sheet per door. I never used another brand, so I can't tell you how it compares to other products. I liked the results that I got. I just hope I never have to take it off to get to my window regulator, because once it's on...it's on.

I used somewhere between 40-60sqft of Raamat BXT on my front doors and door panels IIRC. they were extremely solid and heavy. I never had an issue with midbass (though I did have a good amount of power also). Without deadening and sealing the doors you will never get the full potential of your speakers. Your install will also only be as good as your weakest link. if you want the most performance from the speakers then you should deaden as you will not see any negative results just positive.I did use RaaMat in my Vibe, but Second Skin is what will be going in the my Ram, the wife gave the ok this afternoon when she surprised me and said "You need to do something about the audio; there is no midbass or lowend"Also to get max benefit you dont need to go crazy like the few of us that did you only need to cover 25% of the panels you do, just some food for thought.
