Based on what is currently on the market, if you had to replace your Vibe, what new car would you choose?I am sure many would choose the Toyota Matrix but is there any other vehicle you like?I like the Suzuki Kizashi--AWD available, good mpg and decent price.Also, A Toyota Prius is a thought but lacks the AWD I like.What would you pick?

I haven't really done any research on this year's models.. I'm crotchety, I've hated 99% of the newer cars I've seen come to market over the last decade or so. Maybe a MINI?

I agree with Ponta, (1) Ford Focus would be the number one choice, although I am upset that base models have rear drum brakes. The rear seats do not look like they fold completely flat either. Edit 7-30-2011: Neouka informs me that the rear seats do fold flat when lifting up the seat bottoms. Thanks Neouka! A few more hatch/wagons ordered slightly more by desire than reliability, mpg or pricing:(2) VW Golf Diesel and possibly GTI(3) Jetta Sportwagon in Diesel only(4) Mini Clubman (5) Honda Fit; small yet more usable cargo area than the Vibe and excellent reliability and resale value...Rising on the charts hot with a bullet! Please direct inject and add another gear to this puppy along with standard rear disks!(6) Hyundai Elantra Touring; when it is upgraded with the new engines and transmissions.(7) Kia Forte Five door.(8) Toyota Prius V; could climb up in the charts depending on final pricing and availability(9) Ford C-Max(10) Mazda5If I had to have all wheel drive it would come down to Subaru's, the Toyota Rav4, and the Honda CRV. In sedans, I would look at the Ford Fusion. Suzuki's SX4 might get considered too. The Hyundai Santa Fe, Tucson, and Kia Sportage have really improved. I think the RAV4 V-6 would be a hoot, and then the Subaru's for driving satisfaction if push came to shove.One thing I am really contemplating, after two years with the base Vibe's slightly semi-independent twisted beam rear suspension, is a new rule that any future new car has to have an independent rear suspension. Ford, Mazda, and VW might get a little leeway when it comes to semi-independent or independent rear suspensions. They seem to do a better job at it. Ford's control blade (close enough to independent) works rather nicely. I am buying the Hyundai Sonata Wagon (I40), because I know the H Execs are going to do the right thing and send it here next year. Should they lose their minds and think otherwise, I'll buy another H Elantra Touring (I30). Although the HET does not have the modern 6 speed transmissions like the other Kias and Hyundais, it is a great car and a great value.

Hyundai is really starting to impress me, and if they update the engine and transmission in the Elantra Touring it is going to be hard to beat by anyone. Thanks for the heads up on the Sonata wagon. Going to have to look for that!

Hmmm...Is this for something practical and a daily driver or a replacement for the Vibe?? If I had the moneyChallenger SRT8 with the 6.4l 6 spd manual. Non practical.WRX STI Sport-tech Package (5-door) more practical.I like the look of the Juke too.

I'm quite surprised no one mentioned the Mazda3, especially w/all the votes for the Focus, which I admit is in the running. The base 3i is quite popular around here for sure. And only one vote for the Mazda5 too?Reasonable money and fuel cost not considered, I'd want a V8 car. Haven't had one of those in nearly 40yrs now. I like the new Mustangs for that... just not in black. And in spite of being a Chevy > Ford man most of my life I think they are a better car, and better looking than the new Camaros too.Money no object, an M3. What I REALLY want is another '57 Chevy 210 (Del Ray, not a Bel Air,) 2dr sedan... NOT stock. Resto-Mod. I've been looking regularly but its nothing but a pipe dream for me and would not make a good DD either.

And I've got a longing for the speed3... but the vote goes to the Focus because I am super-impressed with their MPG numbers, all other things being equal (since the vibe, mazda3, and focus get basically the same horsepower, but the Focus has them both beat by 10mpg)Then again, let's be honest... if I'm getting a new car to replace this one in several years, rather than one to replace this one if something bad happens, I'm going to get a FAST 5-door. I would get a WRX. I was going to buy one before the Vibe , but I got a newer vibe for 1/2 the price so I couldnt lose. But, it I did it again, maybe a different story.

Dodge Ram 2500, regular cab, long box, ST trim, the only options would be the diesel engine and the STICK SHIFT!!!!!!! No AC, no Nav, Power-nothing, base model with the oilburner and a clutch, and a set of the best studded winter tires I can find!!!

If you want a truck you need the new GM

Bah... too many options and too much bling... I'm cheap and have little use for shiny or chrome!!! Plus the fact that GM hasn't offered a stick shift in a full size truck since 2006!

If not another Vibe, it would probably be a 2007-up Cobalt/HHR or the 2014 diesel Cruze. If a version of the Fiat Panda were to arrive in America, that would be a contender, since I already love the 500. The Sonic, too, would satisfy me. I also like the Forte5, but am hesitant for many reasons to say I would go for anything by Hyundai/Kia.

If it didnt start at $29,999 the Lexus CT200h since it gets 44mpgi thought ive heard or saw somewhere that Brian Fox's supercharged version of the Lexus CT200H is getting 45mpg with 300whp...i could be totally wrong but i think it looks very niceI very much dislike how little rear storage it has behind the seats when compared to the vibe however...

if I was to buy brand new again it would either be a Chevy Sonic or Ford Fiesta.or in a perfect world a 5th gen Camaro Convertible

I hope its a long time until I buy a new car, but when the time comes, I will use the following selection process:1. Must be a USA brand. We need the business2. Of those, I have to be able to fit into it (head/leg room). 3. Of those, the one with the best MPGs

Probably the Subaru WRX or Mazda3 hatchback. I had originally considered the Ford Fiesta when I picked up my Vibe, but I test drove it and the effects of the crosswind from just driving down the highway (with windows open) was awful.

2008 VW R32. Great looking car. Super comfortable. Plus possibly the last time we'll see the VR6 in a golf body. Sounds so good and performs a little better than the 1zz haha.

Also, good choice on the CT 200h.

In 2016 new mpg regulations should go into effect so hopefully there will be more choices in a few years. I have no plans to replace my Vibe unless I'm in a accident but if that happens, I wish I could shop at a small, hatchback specific showroom (all brands).I'll be looking for an electric car or a hybrid, hatchback at least the size of the Vibe or with a bit more leg room for backseat passengers, safety and reliability ratings will influence me as will pricing. I always buy a used car but electric cars would tempt me to buy new.1. Nissan LEAF electric car is more affordable than the Chevy Volt (but i like both).2. Matrix (I wish it was a hybrid) or another Vibe3. Ford Focus4. Are there any hybrid hatchbacks the size of our Vibe?5. I like the exterior of the Nissan Rogue but the test results did not look too good when I last looked.I dislike the boxy exterior of the Nissan Versa. The Honda Fit and Prius are too small.
