So... my cousin has this car, and she went over 100K miles on a 60K mile timing belt. it busted on the highway. i had to drive to Salisbury, about 100 miles from my house to pick it up.Got the trailer, not what i was expecting. thought it would be a dolley trailer. oh well.Saw this on the way down there.Picked up the car. The Yukon did great for having an extra 5000 lbs on the back. got 12 mpg with the trailer that day.20 minutes in...Bent valves.

Oh look, its the Lacetti from Top Gear! Good luck on it! Hopefully it won't be TOO big of a PITA.

haha yeah. it's got a GM 2.0L engine, similar to the cobalts engine. im thinkin it's a rebadged cobalt. I'm borrowing a valve spring compressor from school and getting my girlfriend to help me today so i can get the old valves out.

ok I've gotten all the bent valves out... did a water test to check for the bad ones. 8 of 16 are bent, and have to be replaced. luckily the pistons took no damage so these are the only parts getting replaced. be lucky that our cars have a chain instead of a belt! if you have a car with a belt, get it replaced at the right times!

i think its actually made by Daewoo. my GF back home has one. breaks all the time. but other than that (constantly breaking down) its a pretty nice car lol

yeah, it's a GM Daewoo joint venture. the engine is definitely GM considering every piece has GM stamped on it. the body is very similar to a Cobalt too.

Odd you say that, because there is really no relationship between the Cobalt and Forenza/Lacetti. Not even the same engines. I can hardly imagine how tough it was to maintain Top Gear's Lacetti fleet. What all needed replacing?

just valves and gaskets. and it has the 2.0L cobalt engine... looked it up online, the engine code is 4-1998 2.0L DOHC.
