Camry rental - dealer prep lapse

Rented a 2011 Camry- had 16,000 miles. In the glove box were two sealed clear packets each containing two oval 1 x 2 inch "caps". The packets read something like - "Very Important - these caps to be placed over .... on the underside . . . prior to delivery". [I forget the exact language.] Reminds me of my 2003 Vibe - there were some unused similar caps in that glove box. So much for the dealer preparation part of delivery that the dealer gets paid for. I assume those caps are for the purpose of keeping out water, dirt etc.

Yeah, I had some similar caps in baggies rolling around the console compartment of my 05 Corolla. Never did anything with them. Traded the car with over 100k for my '10 GT and they were still there.

The plugs are for the holes in the frame where the vehicle is tied down for shipment. If they aren't installed on delivery, water, dirt, and salt can get inside the frame. When we picked up my wife's Toyota Highlander in '05, I checked to see that they were installed and made the dealer do it when I saw they were missing.

And car dealers wonder why they are held in such low esteem by the public. I hope you reported that on the manufacturer's survey.
