My Vibe Annoyances and Problems

I love my Vibe. I think it's one stylish car. However, there are times when I can get down-right annoyed because of all the flaws or problems that are arrising with the car. They're mostly small things but they can add up quickly.* The infamous CD player rattling problem* Rattle coming from moon roof area when moon roof cover is open, exposing the glass* Windows are a little loose when partially rolled down* The black rubber sealant around the exterior of the drivers side window if popping out* Rattles comes from everywhere (towards the rear, towards the front)* Several cheap looking clasps have broken off underneath the car (noticed them while changing the oil)I drive my car a lot. I've had it for a little over a year now and have put on 23,000 miles on it. But I take pretty good care of it. Most of these rattles that get on my nerves happen when I hit a bumpy part of the road (let's face it, living in Michigan, there are bumpy parts all over). However, if I'm on a nice smooth blacktop road, everything is fine... so I'm assuming that plastic or something is rubbing or hitting another piece of plastic.Do you think these are valid concerns and would warrent a visit to a dealership? They would be fixed at no cost to me since it's still under warranty, right? I know the CD player problem is common among Vibes, but am I the only one being plagued with ALL of these problems??

quote:As for the Sun Shade on the Moon Roof, mine does it also... I never looked into getting it fixed, but I assume it is a common thing. No moon roof issues here!

I believe you. I'm just saying I'm not having that problem...

quote:* Rattle coming from moon roof area when moon roof cover is open, exposing the glassI have the same rattling, which is consistently getting worse. At first, it was on only uneven, bumpy roads and I could put pressure on the shade and the rattle would stop. Now, it's whether or not the shade is open or closed, caused by any vibration other than smooth roads, and I cannot stop it with pressure. Probably time to get it replaced at the dealer (would be my first service trip, after a whole year).I do have other rattles which I have investigated and fixed on my own. Overall, these problems you list aren't that bad, but I do feel your concern! Go the dealer and let them have at it.. if you don't have any luck, come back here and let us know. We'll try to hook you up with the right people to make it happen. Also, welcome to GenVibe!

Well I can go to any Pontiac dealership with a service department, can't I? I bought the car when I was living in Denver, so taking it to the original dealer really isn't an option! quote:* I have the same rattling, which is consistently getting worse. What are the mfg dates of people who have this problem? Maybe it was a problem that was discovered and corrected mid-production?Mine was 8/2002..

I am under the same circumstances as you. Bought my Vibe from a dealer about an hour away. I use my local Pontiac service dept. with no problems.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you go to any GM dealership as well, if you're in a bind? Or is that not accurate?

Any GM Service dept. will work except the best route would be a Pontiac dealer since they would more than likely have the parts you need on hand compared to a Chevy dealer whom may have to order or pick-up the parts from another location.

I was just thinking about the situation I had in Boston where I couldn't find a pontiac dealer...but I eventually did, though someone said just go to any dealer, they'll honor the warranty...

Well my whole problem is that I depend on my car to get to and from work. I work close to downtown Detroit and I would need to find a dealership with a shuttle that would pick me up at my home and drop me off and work... then do the same when I get off work. Most places that have a courtesy shuttle will only drive 10 miles from their dealership and I don't think there are any Pontiac dealerships within 10 miles of downtown and my house... so I might have to try a Chevy or Buick dealership...? Any suggestions on where to take my baby??quote:No, you're accurate there. Call around...some dealerships have loaner cars...explain your situation...a dealership that wants a good rating with the mother corporation will go out of their way to help you out...

As ragingfish said, contact the dealer and explain your situation. I would bet most dealerships would accommodate your situation since they all thrive for you to select "Completely Satisfied" on their service questionnaire you normally receive from GM after service.

I'm in a similar situation, deverguy81. I work 25 miles east of here. The dealership I go to is 20 miles west of here. Thus, the dealership is 45 miles from work. Courtesey transportation and such gets a little tricky for me. There is a Pontiac dealership 5 minutes from where I work, and another 5 minutes from home. That would be perfect, however I'm not really interested in bringing my baby out to either of those. Even if it broke down in front of one of those, I'd probably pay to have it towed out to my dealership. I'm MORE than willing to drive the distance for the guys I am dealing with. (This is also the selling dealership.) They are friendly, and seem to get the job done right on the first try. And oddly enough, when I go in and talk to them about a problem, they listen, or at least act like they are! And rage, i know about those completely satisfied cards, stickers, and such. I've been to some horrible GM dealerships, so I can't gripe too much about these guys.Denverguy, indeed, ANY Pontiac dealer will service a Pontiac under warranty. If you have a non-GM extended warranty purchased from selling dealership, that may be an issue. But, for the GM warranty, you'll be OK at any Pontiac dealer.I'm not sure about taking it to a Non-Pontiac GM dealer. My brother-in-law bought a Sierra used but still under factory warranty from a Chevrolet dealer. The Chevrolet dealer was unable to honor the GMC warranty, even though there isn't much difference between Silverado/Sierra. So, he had to drive quite a ways to the GMC dealer for service. For the sunroof... Can't say I have that rattling problem. But, I did notice the other day, the shade almost closes fully when under panic braking situations... lolMy windows rattle as well, they are quite loose. But, I've seen my friend's Vibe do the same, and I've heard many owners tell the same. Probably designed that way.
