Hello all,I bought a 2006 used Pontiac Vibe (2WD) back in January (right before the prices started increasing!). It now has around 58,400 miles on it. I did not buy it certified and I just had a 2,000 mile warranty from the dealer. Knowing that the Vibes have a pretty good track record of not needing repairs, I thought i would be good for a bit.Well last evening I had the check engine light come on and I saw that it was the P2716 code (pressure control solenoid) that i have seen quite a bit of discussion about.I am worried on what to do next. I took it to my basic Midas dealer and they said they wouldn't work on it because they don't do transmission and I need to take it to a transmission specialist. I am worried this is going to be pricey, especially given some have also said it's really the PCM that needs replacing, not the solenoid. Should I be taking it to a GM dealership or would a transmission specialist be sufficient? Given it is a 2006 Vibe, it looks like the only warranties are up to 36,000 miles since I don't have an extended warranty. It seems like the costs for this run the gamut based on the brief reading I've done online. Any recommendations would be great; thanks!ETA: Could this have anything to do with the September 2010 recall? When I did the carfax on this, it showed up as clean with no recalls outstanding but I wonder if this has to do with that....? (Sorry I'm not super car literate!)Turns out I answered my own question. The Carfax i ran apparently was inaccurate and the dealer told me the recall had never been done on my car. So, looks like the mystery is solved!

The recall probably won't fix the pressure solenoid. A GM dealer/shop isn't necessary, an independent, trustworthy, transmission shop should be just fine.
