Strange Letter from Local Dealer

Has anyone ever received a letter like this? Got this in the mail this week. Although this dealer was a Pontiac dealer in 2008, we purchased the Vibe from a dealer in the next county for about $3000 less than this dealer was offering at the time. Although my Vibe is in very good condition (19,700 miles) I have no interest in selling. I want to keep it for a very long time.

From what I read used cars are going for a premium and dealers are looking to buy used cars that are in demand. You can be pretty sure they will offer about $2,000-3,000 less than they think they can retail your used car for. So if you want to sell, do a private sale at $1,500 over what they offer you. I had a 2004 T&C SWB with 21,000 miles when I bought an identical 2007 model. [2007 was last model year for the T&C SWB and I really really like that car - better than a Mazda 5 for less money.] Dealer offered $7,000 in trade, CarMax offered 8,000 cash. A review of CarMax prices on-line showed they were asking about $13,500 for similar vehicles. I sold it myself for $11,500. Bought the '07 for $15,500 plus tax. Plan to keep it for a long time.

I won't fall for this either even tho in the recent past I have only kept cars for about 4 - 6 years because I could buy new and sell old for such a relatively small difference it was a no brainer Unfortunately I think the days of finding smokin' deals on new cars is gone.

I'm always getting things in the mail from the dealer here in town that I got my Vibe from. They always say "special financing" or "x amount of $ off a new whatever". I tear them up and put them in recycling. We'll be keeping our Vibes until the wheels fall off... and then some !

He even says..."Don't make this MISTAKE" don't fall for their generic forms that a computer filled in the blanks with your info that was sold to them from the other dealer or the govt.
