New Vibe Owner. GTP to Vibe!

Hello All! New Vibe owner here. I came from a black 1998 GTP which I will miss a lot. Its a car I will never forget and will always be my first love but my wife and I had our first child and the two doors wasn't cutting it anymore. So I had to move on from the GTP.I just wanted something that got good MPG and was flexible so the Vibe was a natural fit(would have loved a G8 but too much $$). Looked forever for a black one but didn't have much luck so I finally just settled on a blue one. Its a 2005 with 37,000 miles. One owner who didn't seem to drive to much. Tunes and moon package in this Vibe.I don't plan on doing as much as I did with the GTP. I'll just tint it and maybe debadge it and call it a day. So far seems like a fun car and love the back hatch space. Not sure if it can get me over a GTP since its not as fun to drive but I sure do feel great at the pump! Few Questions-six disc changer seems like a giant pain to replace with a AM head unit or even just adding a AUX. I came from my own 12 inch sub in my GTP so the sub doesn't really cut it more me. Anything I can do with the stock step up to improve that? -Got about 340-350 miles on my first tank. All stop and go driving. This about average? -Every 3k for oil changes or 5k? -Anything 05 specific to watch for? Old GTP

Welcome....I came from the GP community too. Here's my '98, 496whp at 18psi. It wasn't my daily driver anymore when I sold it.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Nice Daytona GP also. Any thoughts on these questions?-six disc changer seems like a giant pain to replace with a AM head unit or even just adding a AUX. Welcome! I can see how you would be a little sad over the GTP, aren't they the turbocharged ones? Maybe if yiu turbo the vibe you'll not be as sad

Yeah they are supercharged. I miss the whine... oh well I am enjoying the little Vibe. Another question is about the forum. Seems sorta slow around here. Same is happening in the GP community. Our forum is slowing down as the car gets older.

As a fellow Ex Grand Prix (96 SE) person myself (although not highly as modified as above), welcome to the Vibe community.-How many miles is that on the fillup? I'd say you're doing fine with the mileage (ppl around here see about ~30 apparently.. I haven't hit there yet.. but I have some maintenance to do and I drive like a schmo from the line..)-3k for oil changes unless you're running synthetic I'd say.. I just stick to 3k cause it's easy to remember.-As for the radio? IDK I don't mess with it.Welcome to the community.. and yes it's slow.. and I noticed gp-owners.com is also getting pokey too. Unfortunate.

Welcome!! Vibe looks like its in good shape.i think i'm avg 30 mpg with the non-gt vibe. so ur mpg seems reasonable.the factory unit (tune pkg)was a slight upgrade from what i had before so i havent messed with it yet. adding aux jack seems too complicated for me based on what ive seen on forums, would rather just get a new unit with HD, etc.im sure youll get various opinions on oil change interval.. IMO, depends on oil and filter quality you purchasemay want to see if the PCM recall was taken care of...

welcome from a former 00 GTP owner. The Vibe is a car that will grow on you quick with it's utility. There are very few cars on the road that can match the reliability and efficiency of these cars while carrying a full load of cargo or people.Don't go try and live any power fantasies on these cars though. They are not nearly as tough as our old iron motors. Keep it close to stock and you'll have a great car for a long time.If you need more power down the road, pick up a V8 something. You will appreciate it that much more when you go from one ride to another.

Could we add a new Head Unit with out much issue with the Moons and Tunes? I don't wanna lose the sub. Already lacks bass as it is.

I really wish the dumb dealer wouldn't badge the car with their dealership name. They should have to ask you if you would like that on the car. Best way to debadge is still a hair dryer and fishing line? I Can't remember what I used to get the rest the junk off. Was it goo gone? What do you all use?

Welcome!I was also a prior W-Body L67 owner. I had a 1998 Regal GSX (clone, mild mods). I miss the power and the size of the old Buick, but I do love the hatch and interior space of the Vibe, plus you can't beat 30+ mpg.

no no lost quality, the head unit i have allows me to adjust for the sub so i can increase the subs volume or level with out putting the volume on loud. and the sub sounds better with this add on IMO

What kind of head unit do you have? Sounds like something I should look into.

Will That USB work with my EVO cell for Mp3s? If it didn't it would be a waste. Is it just for ipods? Thanks for all the help and info. Not to pricey either.

unfortunately the usb does not work with the EVO, a friend of mine plugged his in and it did not play anything, it only charged it. but it has an AUX jack which should work on an EVO. and it cost me about $120 at a Wal Mart.

With all the GP pics in here, I thought I was on clubgp for a sec. I've still got my GTP, but recently added a Vibe to the family. Kind of a souvenir as well as gas saver while I'm not working.Welcome!!!
