I just was browsing through the inventory of a fairly local used car dealer here, and noticed a rather unusual '09 for sale.Their ad is incorrect. It lists it as having A/C - but it does not. It's a Canadian 1SA package car (like Star Deceiver's) - but with automatic and roof rack (and obviously a different color). You can see the crank windows in the photos, and no power lock controls.The most unusual thing though, is that it seems to be 1 of 3 built without ON-Star. This is not visible in the photos, but I discovered this by decoding the VIN online. I'll attach links to the ad, as well as the VIN decoder page. I just thought it was an interesting find. Another thing that seems odd to me is that CarProof indicates insurance being registered only 2 days after the car was manufactured. Doesn't mean much - just odd. Must have been a special order or something...John

Interesting...a few vehicles, both Toyota and GM were ordered with odd power options. Think the oddest ones were power windows in front and manual in the rear. Sure, if someone wanted it we'd make it...within reason.

Wow, that's about the same price I paid for my loaded base last Aug. with 17k miles on it.

Considering the equipment on that car, the price is too high, but...The Canadian car market pricing is significantly different from that in the U.S. Although the base prices were similar when the '09's were first offered, our options were substantially more expensive. My '09 1SB (A/C, PW+DL, cruise) with 2.4 and auto had a window sticker price around $23,800 with freight, plus our tax rate is 13% on top of that. Fortunately I had some decent discounts available, so I paid quite a bit less. Pricing a current Matrix as a replacement comes up to substantially more still.Overall, this dealer typically has some of the better prices this side of the border - at least in this area. They're one of the largest in Canada. Keep in mind our population is only about 10% of that of the U.S.A., so we don't have the volume buying power or market. Add special requirements our government adds to the vehicles, and the prices go up! Our higher gas prices have kept small cars in the more highly desirable range for some time now as well.If I had to sell mine today, I could probably get close to $14k still based on its condition and local market prices. That's not in the plans though!John

It's currently at 13%.On a used vehicle sold by an individual, the amount they pay tax on will be either the current wholesale value of the vehicle, or the selling price on the bill of sale - whichever is greater. If the car's over 20 years old, you must provide an appraisal of the vehicle and pay tax on the appraised value, or the sale amount - whichever is greater again.A vehicle sold through a dealer pays tax only on the amount it's sold for. If you trade in a vehicle, you pay tax only on the difference. This applies only through licensed dealers.At least it's not too complex...John
