We recently had the rear lift gate replaced on our 03 Vibe after a little fender bender, not the lock will not work and the hatch release either. I Knew the key would not work since was a replacement ,but was wondering if it was possible to somehow program the key bobs to work on the new lift gate &/hatch glass. Will call the body shop tomorrow as well, but thought the good folks on the forum may have some thoughts. Thank You.

They should remove your old lock and put it into the new lifegate. And you don't have to program anything to let the liftgate lock and hatch release to work. Most likely the wires of the new gate are not correctly connected.

Thanks, bringing it back in to get checked out, Seemed logical to me that they would have minimally switched the locks out when doing the replacement, so I never even thought to check. The repairs were completed 2 weeks ago so not likely they have the old one around:

turns out the actuator on the new lift gate was not working correctly, so the key ob did not work. Lock was my fault for trusting my daughter, it worked fine when I tried it .
