It's a nice setup... but more importantly, were you speaking well and clearly enough through that system to effectivly and professionally get your message across with enough tact and salesmanship so the consumer base you were targeting came through the doors and opened their wallets??? Results

Nice rack! Is that silver power amp a QSC or the Behringer knock-off (or something else)? What other gear is in that rack? I've been wanting to get a good power amp for a while. There are a lot of good options out there so it's tough to make a decision. Our PA is cheap stuff (Behringer powered mixer, Seismic Audio mains) so you've got a heck of an edge on our setup. You should post a link to some samples of your music.

it's QSC amp that powers the subs. there's a behringer input mixer, behringer sound mixer, QSC amp, and another QSC amp powering the PA speakers.

Dang, that's a slick setup! Now I'm curious about your three Fenders. I just bought a used Fender American Vintage RI '62 Jazz. It hasn't been delivered yet but I'm really excited about it. I played one at a local shop and it felt and sounded fantastic. It's one of the only basses that I've played that impressed me as much as my Lakland.

Since this thread has somewhat become a "post your gear" type thread, here goes :This is my Ampeg SVT-VR with my SVT810E. Also pictured is my Behringer powered mixer and one of the two Seismic Audio SA215 PA main speakers. My friend's Peavey ValveKing 100 watt tube head is on top of my brother's Peavey 412 (model unknown). My old Avatar SB112 pair (sold to buy the previously mentioned Fender Jazz bass), Univox tube bass amp, and a Gallien Kruger MB200 (sold). My Lake Placid Blue Lakland Skyline Darryl Jones 4 is resting peacefully next to the SVT stack. Hopefully other people will share pictures of their gear. This could be a fun thread! I really want to see bassplayaz06's setup. :DNext time I load up any of this stuff in my Vibe, I'll be sure to take a few pictures. --Edit: I guess the Behringer powered mixer isn't in this picture.

Thanks! :DI should get around to recording some decent clips of that Lakland. It's easily one of the best basses I've ever heard. It's got some serious growl! The Ampeg rig wasn't cheap but it is as good as it gets, as far as I'm concerned.Do you play anything, Hawaii?

so it's a funny story about the white fender and one of the brugundy fenders. the white one is mine, and is actually a squire. we bought the burgundy fender for me also. i wanted a fretless neck on the white one, so i switched the necks. the third burgubdy bass is a true fender made in mexico, with a Baddass 2 bass bridge. that one's dad's.the top wood one here is a Peavey BXP-Cirrus, which is also mine.here's the usual set up. the subs might look familiar, as they are the same in my vibe.

So the White Jazz is a Classic Vibe '60s Jazz? I used to have one; that is an awesome bass. I still miss mine at times. They're way nicer than their price tag would suggest. :DYou and your dad are wise players. Sticking to Jazz basses is a great decision!

yep, the classic vibe squire. the best squire i've ever played. we also have an ibanez 6 string, Brice 5 string fretless, Rickenbacker 4003 from the 70's, an upright 6 string electric, and 2 cello's. but i love playin my jazz bass. plays like a dream! we refinish the neck surface on the fretless basses with plastic epoxy so we can use round wound strings with them.

Very nice! It's great to hear of a player that goes with rounds on a fretless. Have you tried flats? I've experimented with them in the past but dang, they sound and feel way too dead to be an option for me. They can be useful but I don't think I've ever heard a bass with flats and thought to myself, "That is the tone I'm after". On the other hand, I hear a lot of Jazz basses with rounds and can't help but smile because of how great they sound. You, my friend, are a man of good taste!

the white jazz bass is the only one we have with flats on it. this is mainly for jazz band at school, as that's the sound i need. it's smooth, and has some tone, but not too much for 50's jazz. all the others have d'adario (spelling) nickel wound strings, and the Rick and my jazz bass have Roto-sound strings.

I've been using Ernie Ball nickel lights (40-95) on my basses. I've really gotten into the light gauge because of how much easier they are to play (in my experience). My Classic Vibe '60s Jazz came with really light strings and I've been hooked ever since.D'Addario strings are great, as well. If the local shop I frequent sold the two packs, I'd be using those. The Ernie Ball sets are the cheapest they have so I'm fine with those. I don't really notice any difference between EB and D'Addario, anyway. As an added bonus, my favorite bassist endorses Ernie Ball strings -- Mr. Juan Alderete. He also uses Laklands and the Ampeg SVT. In a way, my whole rig is modeled after what he uses.I'd love to take some Rotos for a spin but every time a string change is in order, I end up buying whatever I can find at the local shops. I don't like waiting to do string changes because my basses start feeling and sounding really dead. I'm a man of instant gratification so I can't help but buy a new set as soon as I recognize the need to swap them out.

something you could do is clean your strings. does the same thing as putting new strings on as afar as sound. you can either boil them in water for a little while or submerge them in denatured alcohol overnight in a paint can.
