just got an old school exodus audio tempest x1 15 inch and an old school farenheit class x 620-2. the sub is dual 8ohms and is 1000rms and 2000max. the amp is 600rms at 4ohms and 1200max at 2ohms i will be running the sub at 4ohms. the box will be ported with 6 cubic feet of air tuned at 30hertz.

yeah. i never use the trunk. its only in use when i have subs. this is my last set up in the car, im gonna all out with the box. box will be finished tuesday.what u guys think on color?black vinylgray vinylblack carpetgray carpetor just plain mdf

You don't have NEARLY enough amp for that sub @4ohm... Being that's a D8 sub, you have 16 or 4 ohm opp options... that amp is 600w @4ohm... you're going to cook the sub.. Especially in ported.. If you hit below the port tuning freq and unload the box, it wouldn't take much.. Will be an interesting build though I suppose, I mean bass is just that, bass... covers the narrowest band of frequencies reproduced.. I think you should leave it bare MDF for that TRUE B-b-b-bass head look... lol..

there is plenty enough amp for that sub, im posting pics later on the build. that amp is both a high current amp and efficient on power, hence the class x. by far the cleanest and loudest setup ive had in the vibe

the sub calls for a ported box between 4.5 and 6cu ft and a sealed between 7 to 12 cu ft. im going to leave it bare lol

AFA it being a "high current" amp, high current operation only takes place at lower ohm loads, at best you can achieve a 4ohm static load on the amp... High current is considered 2 to 1ohm and below... AFA "class x" that's simply a branding that that amp company used, there is no current "class x" topology being used in the amplifier industry (nor has there been any) If it's old school as you say, it's likely a class A/B like everything else, but could be a class D... So again, I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, I fear for your sub.. I ran a pair of JL 12w0 (Old) which were rated @125wrms, on 250wrms for 3-4 YEARS of flogging, before a voice coil separated from the cone of one.. If you don't have 1000wrms or MORE to throw at that sub, I wouldn't even start.. jus sayin.. I'm not a SPL guy, but I know my car audio, you simply don't have enough power and well, it's up to you... Have you modeled it out on WinISD at all? (great program)

im not going to argue about this , the amp has enough power, i have been installing and repairing amps for many years. if mu lived in Columbus u could come check it out. i called farenheit and they explained about the amp., first of all jl subs sound good but the tinsle leads are too short, and the surround dry rots on all there old subs. ive had all there subs

it sounds amazing. its tuned to 30.12 hertz
