i was running a wire from the radio to the handbrake to watch videos on it, and saw this connector. didn't unplug it, no clue what it is for.

That is most likely the plug that would light up the lights under the Automatic shift gate... Just a wild guess though.

TOTAL GUESS: Given that you have a manual, perhaps it's for the lighting of us slushbox pushers gears. Like-a-dis:

Do you have wires headed under your center console? The older models had power sockets in side the box. On my 07 the wire was in the harness but without the power socket.I'm not sure though so probe around and see if it is live and a ground. Could also be a center console box light source as well??Dave
