I was messing around in my photo editing software, and I came up with this:(Older picture, some 3000 miles ago when she was new to me)What do you think? Just needs a set of white wall tires and mooncaps now, eh?

Actually that wouldn't look half bad if you finnished the wood up to and under the headlight on the side panel, oooo and some how some way find a tint to put on the moon roof to look like wood as well that would be kinda awsome

Nice photochop! The classic wood-look wagons had light wood-look trim surrounding the darker wood. And the original woodies had a wagon body made of wood set on chassis and fenders made of metal.

My parents had one of those 1972 Galaxie 500 "woodies" and there were several Chris Craft cruisers (the boat in the background) in the marina where they had a cottage back then. Add to the fact that you could easily fuel up both of them as gas was still in the 30 cent range prior to the oil embargo act in '73

Ha ha, thanks! I though the little slant above the fender would make it look more sporty and less mellow. I took the pattern from a Buick Roadmaster (the only car which gets under 20mpg that I would snatch up in a heartbeat) and to the best of my knowledge it doesn't have the border. And that Photochop was done in a free photo editing software called paint.NET. I cropped out the part that I wanted to be wood, put wood in the layer behind it, and 'cut' off the excess. I then went back and copied the door handles, door jams, and gas door, then slid them into place.

Hahahaa nice work! I Used to have a 79 subaru wagon. It was one of the subaru models before they looked nice .It was a real narrow car with the fake wood grain siding. We used to call it the pencil

I have to agree with you somewhat on that one. If it isnt a real "woodie" then wood doesnt belong on it LOL.

Yes there were some that did not have the lighter trim around it, but I believe that was later '70's/early '80's.A friend who was a year old than me bought a white, 10yr old '63 Country Squire and we did everything we could to REMOVE the fake wood trim from the thing. 'Course the surrounding trim was not possible w/o a body shop or the right tools and skills (rivets/screws, etc) so we had to leave that on.First we tried to make it look cooler by painting the "wood" black. When that didn't work too well, we went through the arduous task of trying to carefully peel the stuff off. UGH!! What a PITA!!!As if the gray cladding on ours isn't bad enough. What would ever make you think of doing such a thing to your poor unsuspecting Vibe?
