My first Vibe

I bought a 2010 Vibe used from my local Chevy dealer on Monday this week.Base model, 2.4L, 5 speed auto.Even though I've only put a couple hundred miles on it so far, I have to say it's by far my favorite car I've ever owned. I've loved the Vibe and/or Matrix ever since I sold Toyotas back in 2005.Where would be the best place to get aftermarket parts for it? I'm looking to get a cold air intake and strut tower brace, but I'm having a hard time finding either.I'll get some pics up as soon as I get my vinyl and leather work done next week. Thanks Ryan

Welcome to the site! This doesn't answer your question about the CAI or struts, but if you ever have to buy from the dealer don't buy parts from GM if you can get them from Toyota. So much cheaper.

Regarding a CAI, see here:http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=39893I'd recommend the K&N SRI based on the combined experience of people that have them and the easier installation v. a CAI.As for a strut tower brace, I have not seen one for sale made for the 2009-10 Vibe. If one is made for the current generation Matrix, it probably would work as I'd bet the strut towers, engine and the engine bay are the same.edit: Cool! Your question regarding the strut tower brace is answered already here: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=43749Good ol' TRD has one for the 2009-10 Matrix/Vibe.

I'm pretty sure that's the Official New-Generation Vibe Mod (TM) hahaha... most of us here with the 09/10 Vibes and the 2.4L engine have the K&N Typhoon Short Ram Intake (seen here: http://store.knfilters.com/sea...613TS )... I expect other members here to chime in with the best place to get it for a good price. I believe I have seen people with new vibes and strut braces on here... ah, here is one where someone installed the TRD strut brace http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...tid=0Notice something? Yes, both are listed as TOYOTA parts. For anything that isn't electronic or exterior body panels, the Toyota Matrix and the Pontiac Vibe are basically interchangeable. If you can't find something listed under Vibe, look under Matrix

My Vibe had 30,700 miles on it when I got it, and I paid $15,300 for it. The dealer is putting two tone white and black leather in it, as well as tinting the windows.

And looking at the SRI, is there a way it can be painted or powder coated?I'm going to paint the engine cover white and leave the letters black, and strip the tower brace and powder coat it white when I get one, if I don't build one myself first.

It's powder coated metallic silver, so all you'd have to do is strip the powder coating off and either paint it or have it re-powder coated whatever color you want.Welcome to GenVibe! I have to agree with everyone else about the K&N Typhoon. It's a great mod for sure. I have seen a solid 1-2 mpg increase with it and of course a killer sound when accelerating . eBay seems to have the best price on it. I have ordered two of them on eBay with no issues. As far as the strut brace goes, I posted in your thread about it .

Thanks everyone for the help on the SRI and strut tower brace. They're next on my list after I get the vinyl graphics put on next week.

For those who want pics, they'll be up tomorrow. It got sent to Oklahoma City for the leather, tint, and detail today.

Is the leather custom? Or did you get it from Katzkin? Some day I'd like to leatherize my interior.

I forget the name of the company, but they do custom leather interior kits for exclusively car dealers. Imho, it's higher quality than anything that gets put on at the factory. When I sold Toyotas, I actually had a couple people get the factory leather swapped out with the kits because it was a lot nicer.

That's my understanding as well. The leather in my Honda Accord is just that bonded junk. I think the second time I ever sat in it I snagged a metal piece of my belt and scraped an ugly scar on the seat bolster.

Hopefully it turns out great. I got black with white inserts, and I'm hoping that makes the interior pop like nothing else. Plus, I just got off the phone with my fiance telling me that the custom transformers vinyl is getting put on Saturday. This is going to be a REEEEAAAAAALLY long week waiting for all this to get done.

Very much so, but it just means there's more toys I have to buy in July. My fiance gets irritated enough with the ones I already have.
