Another HID Topic

Ok so I bought some HID's off ebay. I know thats my first mistake but I still did it. Anyways, I found a set that were $140 shipped. They were located in New York, NY. I am in central NY so I figured it would be quick. Anyways, I ordered them Sunday, they said they were shipped Monday. Its been a week (page said it was 3 day express). Today I got them and the packaging says $20 replacement buld. It also said it came from Tiwan not NY. So, now I have a cheap knock-off kit. So should I report them to ebay for falsifying their site? My fiance used to work some customs and thinks they filled it out as if they were $20 replacement bulb samples so they can trick the govt. So what do you think? Report them? I hate being a (removed), but I also hate getting screwed.

If you got the time I say why not. So much scam going on ebay. 140 is alot for a set of HID off ebay. I think I paid 55 for my set. With ballasts and harness... You know you can still send it back for a full refund if your item doesnt work 100% thru ebay protection. My last set flickers like all other ebay HID and I opened a case thru ebay because after couple emails to the seller (who claimed to have 2 year warranty on everything another BS) I got no reply. Ebay protection allowed me to send the unit back for a full refund, they even paid for return shipping. good luck

http://www.theretrofitsource.com/index.phpI dont work for these guys but I bought my Projector kit from them, and I like being able to call/email and get an answer, they are actual store with lots of reference and even their own forum. Very friendly and quick customer service. Read up on
http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/I read so much stuff about HID's and know so much more now. You will never buy from ebay after reading their product review... even those projectors they sell for so cheap.. Im talking about China projectors, G1, 2, 3, 4 etc etc.. they are all crap. never used them, but ive seen their light output pictures.. they are junk.

Here is the kit I boughthttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...%3AITa newer postinghttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...oriesI bought these because they "were local" I figured a little extra to get a better kit that I could have here asap. I had luck on ebay stuff before but not this time. What steps should I go through to report these people? I got screwed once before like this and never got the product and ebay protection only covered 1/2 the money I spent.

yeah looks way over priced, i would just buy from a store with good warranty. these ebay sellers can say life time warranty, but do you think anyone can get a claim thru after few weeks? Ive tried on couple occasions. they never came thru. I would get on Live Chat from ebay and ask a few questions and go from there. you do realize that those high temp bulbs have less lumen output than 4300k? the colors are for looks only and actual performance drops.

Yeah, I knew that about the high temps. Got 10000K for the truck, 12000k for the lumina lows, 10000k for lumina highs, 15000K (pink) for the PT Cruiser which I changed out to 8000k, and I got 10000K for both sportbikes. I actually ordered 8000K for the vibe.

I actually want to do a retro projector mod. I am thinking once I move I can buy a set of projectors and an extra headlight to test some things.I really would like to throw a set of projectors from an R6 in the light. They are set up so you use 1 bulb with 2 projectors. I dont know if Ill get that far but maybe.

R6 Yamaha? wow... kinda cool idea... why not just buy the projector kits? like what i did with morimoto? you know i bought one spare headlight for this project just cause ive never opened one up before... but it was a waste of money...the stock headlight opens up without a problem and its a very easy mod... i dont know why i was so worried to do it.. absolutely no special tool needed....

I was thinking of getting an extra light but you say its not worth it? I have been researching it a lot lately and I have a little extra money to spare. There was a set of the morimoto on ebay that went for $80 today. It didnt have the outer trim ring though. Maybe Ill attempt this when the weather warms up. I just need to find a set that will take my H4 HIDS.

You know I dont know if any of these projectors will take a H4 HID as a bulb...when they say Morimoto Mini H4, they mean it will fit directly into our light housing but the bulb it takes is different, mine are D2S which is OEM in many cars.. so that I can buy philips OEM bulbs which are supposed to be the best. For now Im using the bulbs that is sold at
http://theretrofitsource.com I will not even bother with cheaper bulbs as Ive had nothing but problems. I dont think any manufacture made OEM HID with H4 bulbs... all H4 bulbs are cheap knock off after market.. I think... Im not positive on this one. I still have my H4 bulbs and ballasts, its useless. The rings are called a shroud.. and they are on sale at that site for 15 shipped i think.. in few different models.. I bought apollo.. if I had to do it again I will not get it.. A shroud that can be mounted in any angle would make it a easier install.. with apollo, you have to align it horizontally, and since our lights dont sit perfectly horizontally, it was a little tricky.. i figured out there are lines in the reflector that I can align with but it was a pain.

so another thing, these D2S bulbs, take a different kind of plug.. ill take a pic tomorrow but u can see it on that website i gave u. so now if you are thinking of reusing your cheap ballasts... you have to buy cable adapter to go from ballast to D2S.. that was why I just gave up on cheap crap.. so far no regrets tho. Im loving driving at night, not blinding anyone but having a super clear and bright view of the road. beautiful cut off too..

I did ask the ebay china made projector sellers too. those that are selling for 120ish with a bulb inside.. called G1, G3, G4, etc... not only do their lens suck, but they told me you have to modify the D2S bulbs to make them fit into their projectors.. i guess not a big deal, I know one guy said his projectors took H1 ?? all in all I came to the conclusion to just avoid those pos anyways, good luck on your quest.
