I've been saying this for a long time. Even if there was a problem, your brakes are much much much stronger than the engine is.

Agreed - though brakes fade, and can do so quite suddenly with disastrous results. Car and Driver found out the hard way testing a 370z - after a couple turns of hard use, the brakes faded away to nothing and the car crashed.The CHP guy that was on 911 and crashed the loaner Lexus reportedly had his brakes mashed and sparks or flames coming from the wheels. Probably he braked too long without really mashing them and once they got hot it was goodbye Charlie.
