Driver's side mirror snapped off

So apparently my girlfriend was backing out of her parking spot at her apartment complex and the parking spots have the poles. She backed up and her driver's side mirror broke off completely. She said there is a black metal piece still sticking out from the side but the mirror housing is completely broken off. She is still at work and I haven't had a chance to look at it yet (I will tonight) but I wanted to come on here before hand and ask for opinions.Has this happened to anyone else? If so, what are some options I have? Is it easier to just try and mount the mirror back on with duct-tape for a temporary fix? Should I buy a mirror at the dealer and just have it fixed from them? If so how much will that cost? Any ideas or suggestions would help. This is for a 2003 Vibe. Please click on the link below to see a picture of what it looks like.

Thanks for the links...which mirror is the correct one to get? She has a 2003 Pontiac Vibe (base model) but she has that little button on the left side of her center console where she slides the button to "L or R" and then she can move the little button to adjust the mirror. Is that considered a "power mirror" or a "manual remote mirror"??

That would be a "power" mirror. Probably one of the most unappreciated luxuries of modern motor vehicles.

I paid $340 for a GM dealer to install a mirror for me. I was young and unwise.

Somebody hit my mirror with a bus and broke it off. It looked just like yours does now. I bought my replacement from ebay and it fits just fine. Get the power mirror.

I wonder where someone gets 10 new driver's side power mirrors for a Vibe/Matrix?
