Let me get this right. You are hauling aZZ going down a snow covered highway and low on fuel? Geez sounds like great fun until you put it the ditch.

Passing in a snow-covered lane at that speed? Insane, IMO.

I've been on roads like that several times.

When was I low on gas??? The yellow lights indicate that the trac control and VSC are off!Do you not have confidence in your tires? Your car? Your driving ability? I know what these tires can and can't do. I know these roads very well. And I'd rather be driving my own pace, by myself then follow in a group and be at the mercy of others!

Well you car is different so I thought you were low on fuel. I agree about traveling in a group that is very dangerous unless giving each other 100 yards or so of space. Snow tires in this area are normally not needed. I have a set of chains and my car is AWD. However they don't have the snow removal equipment in OKie land. Also the county roads I live on a very narrow, no shoulders and bar ditches (3ft drop off). So 1 unlucky slip and you are up to your azz in snow.

As for other people on the road, it just takes one other person to lose control for a split second and you can be toast too regardless of awesome tires and driving ability.

I had confidence in my car, driving ability, etc until I lost it in my girls PT. I didnt do anything out of the ordinary, wasnt driving any different than any other time, etc. It just happened. The *** of the car came around before I knew what happened.

I cant stand it when it snows and all the cars on the highway go the same speed/spread out in all lane. If you are driving the same speed as the car in far right lane, then get out of the passing lane so people who are comfortable going faster can pass. OK Rant Over

That highway looked really clear compared to the crap I was driving in last night!!! It was a disaster! But we were more worried about the other drivers around us doing something stupid, than we were ourselves.

I know the car, I know the tires, I know I rock at winter driving and yet, I wouldn't condone some of those speeds in those conditions... That is unless you had your Winterforce tires studded and maybe have 200lbs of something in the rearNow, if I was in the Subaru, I wouldn't have a concern.. lol.. different story.. No slight on you Sir, but some of what I saw was just reckless..

A little bit... yes... you take your chances sometimes...Funny though that nobody has commented on the fact that I was holding the camera with my right hand the whole time. I had no problem with the road but the thought of not being able to drop a gear or grab the wheel quickly is what sketched me out. How the hell people drive with their ear to a cell phone I'll never know!

Remind me to never drive out that way in winter I trust my driving skills but thats why they call accidents accidents cause you don't know when, how or where it will happen if its you or someone else lose control and OOPS oh crap my car noooo! I used to drive like that a lot till ironicly just passing through a green light a taho decided to side swipe me with my grand am. Lucky I had a seat belt on my car was GONE! As for freeways I usually do 80 on nice weather in bad weather i'll go what I feel is safe which is usually the speed limit and far away from other cars if I see someone driving the speed that you were going i'd get over if I could and just let you pass me so I would feel safer. Now if your tail gating me with your brights on thats a diffrent story, I scared the crap out of a person once cause they were doing that to me on the freeway when I was already pushing it at 85mph so I decided to slam on my brakes for a second and then sped up and passed about 10 cars before slowing down so I could get away from him/her...yea fun times...ok not really...

100 kph on packed snow and ice?!?! I won't knock you but will say that I'm glad you came out ok. Maybe you should take up big stakes gambling? You seem to have No fear, you always go for the brass ring? It's only a matter of time of winning before the big loss smacks you across the forehead (or the windshield does), be prepared for when it happens. Those rock cuts you go through? They hold COLD and can turn the road surface to black ice even when the rest of the road is just wet due to the radiation of cold from the frozen rock.Be safe out there! Fax me your travel schedule so I can take a different road. What's that saying? He who drives slower than you is a MoronandHe that drives faster than you is an Absolute Idiot?Dave
