p0135 code, how to check heater element?

HI,I did search here and on other toyota forums.My girlfriend's car , 2003 base Vibe automatic has about 170k km. When she bough it about 35k km ago we changed the front o2 sensor with a NTK because it was taking too much gas. It still took a lot of gas, about 260 - 300 km per tank, mostly city driving.So now she gets the p0135 code. I would like to check the sensor before replacing it. The money is tight right now. Does anyone have the specs and how to check it? I also changed the intake manifold gasket a few weeks ago hoping this would solve the problem since the code appeared during winter time. I know there was a TSB on that for toyotas.Thanks

The O2 Sensor you replaced (NTK) was it universal or a direct fit? If it was a universal check the wiring to make sure it's ok. I've heard of NTK bearing but not O2 sensors. La sonde O2 vous avez remplacé (NTK) est-il universel ou un montage direct? Si c'était un chèque universel le câblage pour s'assurer que c'est ok. J'ai entendu parler de roulement, mais pas NTK capteurs O2. Entrez le texte àtraduire ici

Yes it was a universal fit but it worked fine for more than a year. It is only now that it is throwing this code. NTK is the same as NGK or they are part of the same company, I am not too sure. I did not know they were also making bearings. It was too cold but probably tomorrow I will check the integrity of the wires.
