Noise when slowing down from high speeds

Only when I slow down quickl from high speeds (like exiting the interstate in a short exit ramp), I hear a sound that is difficult to describe. It's kind of a low, deep, whirring sound from the front end. I don't hear it in normal stop-and-go traffic on city/residential roads. Any ideas? I can ask at the next oil change, but I prefer to try and do some higher-priced fixes myself if I can. Thanks in advance! Background: Car is 2006 Vibe at approx 70,000 miles. I replaced the brake pads last spring (rotors looked great), and the brakes continue to feel normal (no squishiness). I also replaced the transmission fluid in the fall and got new tires then as well.

Mine has always done the same thing as well. Only when slowing down from high speeds. I've never had any issues otherwise. I'm on the OEM pads, still, and at about 66,000miles.

I experience this sometimes as well. My road is at the bottom of a hill with a speed limit of 65, so I slow down from 65-70 downhill and I get this sometimes....if my radio isn't too damn loud

So other people get this also? But I have not always had this sound. I've had the car for over three years and have only noticed it over the last few weeks. This is why I worry that something might be wrong. My dad though possibly a wheel bearing?

It could be a couple of things: a wheel bearingif your tires are getting old you may have thrown a belt in one of the tires. Tires might be cupped causing this noise. You might want to throw it in neutral to see if it still make the sound. That will remove the Transmission from the list.
