Anything is possible with enough $$$$. That would be an interesting project. But I believe you are better of starting with an AWD Vibe/Matrix and improving the engine. So far no one has done a 2zz swap in the AWD. But a AWD swap in a 2zz (GT/XRS) sounds like a lot of work and $$$$. Please keep us posted, maybe the AWD guys are trying to work in the wrong direction. There's a guy with a totaled AWD Matrix on MO he maybe parting out. It's in Canada I beleive.

I've heard that and havn't researched it but I don't recall seeing any threads (on here or MO) about people shelling the transfer case or diff. I know the diff seems to leak (need to replace seals on mine) but running it low on oil and trashing it out is a maintance issue not quailty issue. I feel maintence is a key to these cars (more so with the Auto, AWD and SC) and how you drive them. Yea I may go out on some nice roads and push it a bit. But normally I don't like drive it like it's been stolen.

the 2003 AWD system could not handle the sudden jolt of hitting lift. you would also have to completely redo your exhaust from the header all the way back to allow room for the AWD system, thus choking the life out of your 2zz anyway.

it's not possible, the stamping between the awd and the 2wd styles are different. The 2wd body stamping doesn't have a tunnel for the drivetrain

The you get into that 2zz-AWD tranny fitment issue. Otherwise we'd be dropping 2zz in these AWDs.
