2 Blown Headlights in a week?

My driver's side headlight has blown two bulbs this week. Both the low beam/DRL filament. The first one was a sylvania that I know has a shorter life so I just assumed it was time. I replaced it with another (not sylvania) just a regular 9003 and it blew out the next day. Could I possibly have a short?

Normally they suggest you change them out in pairs. Did you change the Passenger side also. It maybe worth looking into.

normally a short shouldnt blow the bulb but a voltage spike might. a short would ussually blow the fuse first

I didn't replace in a pair. I was using an old bulb to get me through till the weekend where I had time to buy new silverstars and replace the pair. Voltage spike eh? That's beyond my voltmeter....

ok looks like there is nothing wrong with your car... the sylvania blowing is normal and puting an old bulb is depending on how it was stored pry blew because of storage. my old bulbs are rattleing around in my glove box, i wouldn't be surprised if they blew shortly after i put them back in

The "replacement" bulb I put in was the remaining one from when I had one go out about a year ago (maybe 9 months ago) and I replaced them with the silverstars. It sat on my shelf but it could have been 4 years old already and through hundreds of cycles.
