So, I've did my service for the US Justice System today, was called for Jury Duty and called to sit on jury as well, I almost got put on a malpractice case but alas, my Sister In Law the MD foiled that placement attempt! I guess they thought I'd be biased to some schumuck who had her shoulder fixed by surgery and suing because she has a SCAR!!! OH PLEASE!!! Does your shoulder work now and it didn't before? Be happy go away and play a game of tennis!!All in all I'm out $10! I got paid $5 for a day's service, went out to lunch and spent $15!!! Dave

I love getting out of Jury duty. Nobody like a middle aged conservative white male in a suit and tie. LOL If they only knew.

Call me nuts, but I would like to be called to jury duty someday, just to see what it's like.

The majority of the jury pool just waits around all day to be called and is never called. Slave wages and you have to pay your own expensive downtown parking expense. Why doesn't the minimum wage apply to jury duty? Maybe the UAW could organize jurors.

The last time I got selected they went through voir dire that went on and on and felt like the OJ trial. They said it was a "complicated" drug deal case and in the end only selected those with degrees up the yin yang. I lost two days of work. I'll go commando and show cleavage if I get picked again mwahahaaaa

Actually our Court House Validates!!! Park in the local parking garage and they pick up the tab, so in light of that I guess I got more than $5 for the day.Dave

There is a county owned garage next to the Franklin County (Columbus, OH) Courthouse but (a) no free parking there for jurors and (b) it is about $12 a day. I think that stinks when requiring people to serve on a jury and paying them about $15 a day. This is the same County that insists contractors pay the "prevailing (union) wage" on county construction projects.

I served on a federal drug trafficking trial jury in Indianapolis a few years ago. I thought it was pretty cool. For you Colts fans out there, former QB Jack Trudeau was in my jury pool. I was picked (along w/9 others) with the first group and only about 2 were picked from the second. Jury selection was over before lunch, trial started same day at 1 p.m. Lasted about 4 days. If memory serves, I was paid $40/day plus mileage (I had to drive about 60 miles one way every day). Where I worked had "Jury Pay", so I was paid my full wages minus the $40/day the court paid me. Add in the $ for mileage and I made more that week than if I had just worked my regular job.
