Thanks for the quick response i am going to check the Mass airflow sensor tommorow. Two things though i have read that different products are better to clean (spray) the MAF with was wondering what you recomend. Also, I am not sure what you are refuring to by CEL'S. Its a 2003 with around 61,000 Miles on it. Also it seems to act up more in the cold if that has any relevence.

If this is happening when you first start the car from an overnight period of rest. This is completely normal.

A CEL is a Check Engine Light. But it Revving high a startup it normal for these engines until they get warmed up a bit.

Does it have a steady high idle until it warms up or does it have an oscillating idle?

I agree w/Keithvibe...~1800rpm is pretty normal for a morning or cold-weather start. This morning my garage was -4F and my '05 Vibe rev'd at that for 3-4 minutes before slowly dropping down to 1K (I don't normally let it idle that long, but it was freaking cold).
