I know of a cheap, high quality camera that is of tiny size. I use it and enjoy it. Two-button use, and it is the same size/shape as a key fob. The issue is that it doesn't have a screen to show the video.http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_k...gbr=1But hey, it's cheap.

Well, you don't really need a screen if it's just for day to day recording. But get something that gives a good high quality image! that firecam looks interesting.

thanks guys for your input, i'm really looking at the sony bloggie now because its supposed to be able to take high quality still pics and i have also been thinking about an upgrade to my old digital camera which is only 6mp but waterprooffigured i could just mount it in a universal phone cradle or something either on the windshield, dash, or around the dash bezel

While this is only a suggestion and may be completely off the wall: Have you considered getting one of those web based/DVR systems w/multiple cameras? They are not that expensive and with a few cameras you could have 360* coverage. I've seen an 8 camera system for around $400. Of course you wouldn't need one w/that many so a 3-4 camera system would be cheaper.The DVR could mount under the passenger side seat and plug into the 115v converter.

so i decided as my christmas/new year present to myself this year to get the bloggie touchif all goes as planned you'll eventually see some response videos uploaded on youtube or at least some driving aroundironically got to call in the first fire call of the new year for the fire company today, came upon an accident on way to eat in the afternoon...nothing too exciting, no injuries, just assisted PSP with traffic control until tow trucks arrived cuz its a 55mph zonenow im looking at mount options again and just ordered a cheap windshield suction tripod mount for about $5 , if it works im returning the universal phone cradle i picked up for $10 at Best Buy today cuz it shakes more then i think it shouldreally looking forward to uploading to youtube my first filmed video response with the euro siren tone and seeing everyone comment on it

Interesting topic and one that I WILL BE ENGAGING somewhere in the near future. Mainly for use in my service van to protect all the tools (easily over $10k when all are on board) and will have it running continuously. This way when Mr. Delivery man backs up to the loading dock where I just happen to be right next to, and HITS me, then I'll have video to prove such stupidity This really happened to me earlier this year but could not prove it. Also with all the "road rage" that goes on during normal day to day driving, I'd like to capture some of it and turn some people in Systems like this SHOULD become more affordable with time to where more & more of us can entertain the idea

What do you have for power? can you use an inverter for long duration? A home security system with DVR and cameras would be ideal for you.. you could even mount the "bubble" camera mounts, right on the side of the truck.. I could expand on this if you like.. i looked at the gopro but felt i wouldnt use it as much since you can't view what you're filming/filmed till you plug it in back at home. figured if i do get interested in filming some more adventurous things ill probably give the gopro another lookjust got the shipping confirmation and tracking number in my emailmaybe some companies will come out with some accessories but who knows i'm also curious about the 360 degree accessory

I use my HD version all over the place including the race track. They are actually releasing a LCD Bakpac for the unit soon which will just plug into the pack for easy viewing of what you are recording. Best of both worlds really for when you want a compact and rugged waterproof camera or a generic camcorder viewing screen.

+1 on the gopro (although you've already decided on the sony). i picked one up at the end of the riding season, but plan to use it alot on the bike and stuff.great camera for its size.
