So I have a Droid 2 and see Swype on my app list but have no idea if it is actually installed or not. I tried looking on droid forums but tooooo techy for me (don't really understand "nerd" talk I guess).

I don't have one, but have a friend who has a Droid X, and asked him and he said he *believes* that all the Droids have them installed already.

According to Wikipedia (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motorola_Droid_2) it is installed on your phone.Quote, originally posted by epcIII »So I have a Droid 2 and see Swype on my app list but have no idea if it is actually installed or not. so go to SettingsTHen under Language and Keyboard you will see swype settings and if its enabled. Enable it. Now when you type on a text or web browser (or where ever). You will see a finger and blue line in the bottom left of the kyebaord. Now you can swype your text.Tap and hold on the first letter of a word and drag it to the rest of the letters, letting off the screen at the last letter. It should of made the word

Thank you HPL. I just can't get it to work if it is on there. I guess I can go to the store and ask their tech guys what's up (our local Verizon store is always crowded). When I was looking it up on the droid forums all I kept on seeing was something about 'system dump' and have no idea what that is either. Tried looking that up too and got nowhere.

I really appreciate the help. I didn't even think to look there. It even has a tutorial.

I messed around with swype, and can see where it could be a lot faster that conventional typing, but I didn't invest enough time to get good at it before I set it back to regular typing mode. I have used the voice input method, which is surprisingly accurate if you try to speak clearly.

I am to lazy to use Swype, I like to use the mic feature and let the phone text for me. Then again I am by myself most of the time when I text. If I could use it with 2 thumbs I would like Swype more and probably use it, but without using Swype I am faster with the conventional texting method.

well the Evo just had a update from HTC to get swype installed. Otherwise you'll need to join the swype beta, find it free somewhere, ot try one of the other apps that are "like it"

http://swypeinc.com/index.htmlAlso, most newer android phones to have swype when you get them, some might not. They have to change some of the code on each phone and work with the manufacturer to release it on their phone instead of generalizing it and releasing it. That's why you don't see it on the marketplace. That in mind, it does work on an amazing number of non-offically supported phones. I have it on my CDMA version HTC Desire running 2.1. (still waiting for FroYo. Darn carrier and HTC!!!)
