i've been wondering, why did pontiac/toyota give the 03 AWD the least amount of power?

they didn't intentionallyIt's the same engine that the base model has.. It just has the least because they added awd to it.

i also think that there was some more restrictive exhaust routing to get around the AWD pieces. The engine is the same but doesn't flow as well due to that and has a few HP less. People who truly need AWD definitely don't need more power since you are barely on the gas in low traction situations.

ah, that makes sense. HP is one of the reasons we bought the 03 GT considering it has the most stock power.

Yes we want it the other 99% of the time but definitely don't need it.I wanted a 450hp RWD wagon so i bought one. I don't need more than my bone stock base FWD vibe to go anywhere.

The 1.8 AWD almost can't get out of the way of itself. There's nothing like trying to complete a pass with a Semi bearing down then you stomp the gas and the car laughs at you. It needs just a tweak say maybe 30 more HP.

You are correct! However the SC does help a bit! Keith will be adding a TC soon maybe he'll get his 80-100 + hp. If he doesn't shell the tranny, transfer, diif.....LOLWhat's the HP rating on the 09 AWD?

Thing is like glass. 158 or something

Thing is like glass. 158 or somethingYea I heard that about the AWD and that's why I'll be upgrading all the fluids soon. Also have a rear diff leak that will need to be addressed soon (the level is still good). T&A can tune with the best of them from what I read, I'm sure he'll be in good hands. hmm 158??? I'll make a run at ya. coming to OK soon...LOL. Have no idea what mine is doing. Need to get the TuRD ECU out and get it tuned with the EMU.

For the most part is runs rich based upon how it runs right now. I don't have my A/F hooked up yet (my SRI is also on the shelf) that's a project after the holidays and get the exhaust done, Diff leak fixed, fluid change over and etc. I'm quite happy with it now, fuel mileage dropped some. Hope to get my wife in another car soon!
