Nope. Got it a couple months ago. I just popped the cover out so I can take pics for those who didn't know what to look for...

Nah, didn't bother trying to get them to order it...just dropped the $2 myself. 10x easier.

Thanks to that thread from 2002, I had my dealer order one for me right when I got my car and realized the plug wasn't there. It pays to read GenVibe *before* you buy!

I still don't have one ... my dealer threw it out. It wasn't worth the hassle to get it from the dealer. Someday I will.

We just got ours added when we took it back to the dealer (leaking moonroof) and soon we'll need to go back for our radio/CD replacement.

Mine's never had one on it from the day I bought it. The sad thing is, I bought it with 11,000 miles from the dealer's wife (LOL, It wouldn't let me post because the post title was originally "Re: (VIBEOK)" set by the site, and it said "Error Post title cannot contain more than half capital letters. Please revise.")

I don't have the plug either, and with the way my dealer acts, I'm not so sure I want to argue about it to try to have it put in.

Not a big deal either way...1) It does look a little 'cleaner' with a plug in. I got mine from a Toyota dealer for a buck or two. The Toyota part number's been posted here before.2) If you have small children, it MIGHT keep curious little fingers from getting injured and/or stuck.3) I noticed the Vibe show car with the automatic trans at the Michigan Genvibe Meet II was missing it too!

Kari..do you need a plug..I just bought 2 from my deler. It was 1.37 plus tax. Drop me your address in an email and I'll send it to you..I bought 2 in case I messed up the install on one...and because they were only $1.37

Went to the dealer the other day to tell them that it was missing... the salesman told me that none of the new Vibes have them either, and then he showed me a pic of the manual tranny shifter, and said "look, there isn't one in the pic, so it doesnt come with one..." So, I'm going back to the parts department and getting it for free... I paid $25000 for my car, and they want to charge me $8 for a plastic circle, mmm no!

Ha ha, the dealer put that itty bitty piece of plastic on mine before they put it out on the lot for it to be sold. The dealer did their job before delivery, too bad they forgot to tighten down a bunch of stuff at the factory. (removed)

Mine was laying in the cupholder when i picked up my '05 a few weeks back..

I had to go back to the dealer and have them order me one after I bought my '05 in April. They tried to charge me for it, but I insisted that they should provide it free as it was missing from the car when I purchased it. Apparently this is an ongoing problem, judging from this technical notice that GM put out in November of 2004:
http://www.gmtechlink.com/imag...tory1There is also something in there about some rubber plugs that are supposed to be installed prior to delivery, so if you are experiencing excessive road noise you may want to check this out.Wonder why they don't install the interlock button cover at the factory?

is the cap just a cover for an additional overdrive override switch? The car already has one O/D switch. The dealer knew what the plastic bag with the cap was for on the test drive. But the ultimate purpose of the switch has me baffled.

It has nothing to do with overdrive. This is just for the brake/shifter interlock which will not allow you to shift from park without holding down the brake. This can be used in the event of a failure with the mechanism...
