I was wondering if someone can assist me in installing a cellphone charger.I have the HTC Evo 4G and I have the ProClip mount and power cord for fixed install.I have a friend that is willing to help me install it, but he wanted to make sure that he can have access to a good hot wire since he is unsure of the Vibe wiring.I did find the sticky about the 12 volt accessory wire in the center console, but I wanted to see if there was a accessory wire that I can access in the dash that may be easier. Here is a link to the instructions. It is a PDF file.
http://www.proclipusa.net/medi...6.pdfThe main part of the directions states:White to Ground or the vehicle chassis, and Red via a 2 A external fuse to a 12/24 Volt positive power source controlled by the ignition switch. Is there a guide/post that can assist me in this project? As always, thank you in advance for all help I have gotten from everyone.-Stephen

I think the center console is as good a place as any. I'm sure others who know better though will chime in.Good luck.

Is this still for your 03 GT or do you have a different one by now?Do you want the power for the phone to be hot always, or to be switched by the ignition key like the radio is?

Sorry I currently have a 2005 Vibe. Not the GT anymore.I think I would prefer ignition, but either would work.

There's a bunch of places you could tap into. The easiest and most reversible method would be to get one of those "add-a-circuit" things (such as at
http://www.amazon.com/Littelfu...BGELQ or
http://www.amazon.com/Bussmann...KEXK2 and probably available at chain auto part stores) and use that to tap into the fuse box. You could tap the CIG, WASHER, WIPER, rear wiper, fuses for a switched source, or the INV, PPOINT, DOOR, HORN, DOME, POWER, fuses for unswitched. There may also be empty slots inthe fuse block that are hot.If you just want to cut a wire and tap into it, then the easiest to get to would probably be the power to the radio or the in dash 12V outlet/cig lighter. Check out the various radio wiring threads to see which wire to tap there. There's a lot of power run through a junction box just over the glove compartment, but it's a bit much to access and adequately describe which wire in there you might want to tap. As others have said, it would be fairly straighforward to tap into the 12V in the center console and run a wire under the carpet back up under the dash. Where are you going to mount it?
