I bought a 05 and was checking the air cleaner. Inside the housing at the top is another air filter. It does not come out. Should I pry it out or is it permenant?

Welcome to GenVibe! The screen at the top of the lid, just straightens the airflow right before the MAF sensor. It is not a filter per se. It can be removed, but I would leave it.
