A little of a month ago, I met up with member (Merzbow) in Detroit for dinner and a couple drinks. We talked about the good old days and talked about getting a meet planned for the summer of 2011. This would be for old and new members and doesn't matter what you drive.I still wish I had my vibe GT, but was totaled in Feb, 2008.Anyone interested.....Please post below.

If you don't mind an "Ohioan" who lives right on the Mich/Ohio border, then count me in Also if it is anywhere in the metro Detroit area

Hello to all and very nice to hear from you.As for a set date, we will have to work on that. As for a location, poor old Joseph Pontiac in vacant and not in business anymore. We can work on a location as well. Note: Buckeyes are more than welcome to the Michigan meet. I always thought Toledo was part of Michigan.

I might be in Minnesota, in fact I'm pretty sure I am, but a good 'ol road trip could get me there! I'm willing to meet up in Michigan.

I'm at most a 'maybe' this far out, but I'll keep it in mind. We had a great time at the Indy meet last summer!UPDATE: Here's a photo of rasermon (far left) from the 2004 GenVibe Super Meet in Fenton.Rich, did your Satellite GT have both rear wings? I think I have a couple of photos including it too.

IMO we should shoot for something like early/mid June, as the only downside to the Indy meet were the scorching temps.

I could probably plan around for this as well! And I say as SOON as it's warm enough to tolerate, we have the meet, then plan ANOTHER for early June! Hellz yeah!

I'm in. And +1 for early June time-frame. The Indy Meet's temp last July was tough, and that was under tree shade.Hell, I might even have a new sig by the time we have a new meet. Beautiful. Even did a copper mine tour, and harbor sunset boat ride.

For Vibe's all coming from a similar area, there should be a con-Vibe, and they all travel down as a group. For me, the first week of June wouldn't work, since my school goes until I think June 8. Once there would there just be a big camp out?

Pics in the parking lot were a BLAST tho

Myself and three other Chicago area people did this on the way to Indy. I won't be doing it again. I prefer to drive by myself so I don't have to rush or worry about keeping up with other people and/or having them keep up with me. As Psycho said, a bunch of us stayed at the same hotel in Indy. I don't mind camping, but would prefer a nice bed to sleep in and a decent shower. Also, on a bit of a side note, I say we have the meet in Hell, MI! GenVibe goes to Hell ! LOL!

Lol, Hell Michigan. It's been sometime since I been there. I'm amazed with all the interest for another Mi. meet. Like I said, I don't have a vibe anymore but would be great to see new and old members again. After the first of the year, we will set a location and put a poll up for a convenient date and time for all.Regards....Rich

I prefer a good bed too. Not that big of a fan of camping. It's easy to see the hassles of a cara-Vibe, but it still might be fun if we see another Vibe in traffic to stick with it for a minute. Hell would be one hell of a drive down, from where I'm at, but I'm up for it.

you MN guys should take the car ferry across lake mich. not cheap, but it's one of those "do it once in your lifetime" experiences.

Quote, originally posted by Zimm »you MN guys should take the car ferry across lake mich. not cheap, but it's one of those "do it once in your lifetime" experiences. That is a brilliant idea. We all could take one ferry, if possible, since we're all basically in the same area (Minneapolis metro). We'd get to avoid the toll roads, and save gas.

The SS Badger looks like the cheaper, and more fun, alternative, if we were to take a ferry. And if my math works out, the price of gas for the trip if we were to average 30 MPG (low-balling MPG for sake of my math) would even out the price of the car ticket. Then again, that is just one way. $130 one-way trip that takes four hours, as opposed to twelve, by ferry. Still cheaper than the other ferry, but it would still take an hour more to get to Hell. But minus four hours of driving. So driving is the better idea, but the ferry still looks tempting. Four hours less of driving, and on a ship with fun things to do sure looks nice...

I've been on a ferry, and it was a great experience. I would recommend it for those wanting to save a little money. The round trip for 1 passenger and Vibe would be $227 but it would take longer to get to Hell.St. Paul to Manitowoc, Wi (the Ferry) would take 5 hoursManitowoc, WI to Ludington, MI would take 5 hpurs (S.S. Badger)Ludington, MI to Hell would take 3.5 hours for a total of 13.5 hours not including the time it takes to load and unload the cars. Driving from St. Paul to Hell would take about $400 round trip if you averaged 30mpg but get you there at least 1.5 hours faster. The ferry route would take about $390, give you a 5 hour break from driving and only take 1.5hr longer to get to Hell and you would put about 220 less miles on your Vibe. The Beginning destination I used was St. Paul averaging $40.00 fill-ups based on 300miles per tank. Granted in reality if one was to keep the cruise set to 69mph you could get 375-425 miles per tank easily making driving the whole thing cheaper by about $50ish

2300mi/3700km one way. Adding detours, stops, city driving, general bumming around and such the trip will cover about 8000kms (a nice padded estimate, anyways )Assuming poor mileage of 600kms/tank, it will take 14 tanks of gas to get there and back. @ $40 per tank, $575 will cover the entire gas bill and what I will budget for.HOWEVER: Gas in the states is, on average, 20%-35% cheaper then it is here. US/CAN $$$ exchange is 5 cents on the dollar (95c US/$1 CAN). In reality, with the gas light on and gas @ $3/gal $35 will fill the tank. 700/750+kms out of a tank is the norm for 100% freeway driving.Hotels: None on the way, 1 or 2 nights at the meet, possibly 1 more on the way back. I've never seen the need to pay more then $60 a night.Food: Carl's Jr, Jack-in-the-Box, Subway $5 footlongs, and any other fast food that we don't have up here!!! And there's always walmarx... $20 a day will keep your belly full easily!Other expenses: The wife has her own trip planned for the summer with her girlfriends and most likely won't be tagging along with me so there's a huge savings!!! Cedar Point, and Six Flags - Great America will be a must see!!! Yellowstone.... and anything else of interest along the way!!!
