Running preamp outs: Pop sound when changing CD tracks

Hi all,2004 M&T pkg, and I'm trying to circumvent the double signal amplification issue by running signal out from my aftermarket HU's preamp RCA outs (Alpine CDA-105). Signal level is great with this setup, only caveat is that every time a system sound change occurs (next CD track, for example) I get an unpleasant pop sound through my speakers. A local sound shop techy told me this resulted from the M&T amp lacking a mute line that would normally be activated to subdue any of these pop sounds.I've done some forum searching for this problem to no avail, so my first suspicion is that this may be an issue acutely related to mis-wiring, or a bad ground. Anyone know what I'm missing that might shed some light on this problem? Thanks!

The pop seems to be a common thing for M&T Vibes with aftermarket head units. People seem to run the head unit speaker outputs through a line level converter of some sort, that is reported to help eliminate the pop. Unfortunately, the forum search doesn't do three letter words, so searching for "pop" doesn't work but a search of post bodies for scosche turns up a lot

Super, thanks for the tip! I'm also going to try running a direct ground line from the HU; that apparently solves the popping issue in some cases.
