Help with replacing wheels.

I need to replace my tires on my 03 Vibe now. The have no grip on wet surfaces at all and its my wife's car. I want to replace it with 18" black with machine lip. I've been researching here but can't find a good answer. What size tire goes with 18" on Vibe.?I get 215/45 - 225/40. I'm thing 35+ offset is right and 18x7.5 or 18x8 will also work. members Mrizzle05 and ajflan are the look I'm going for.

OK, Ive decided on my rims online. Now my question is if it is worth getting 40 series tires. This is my wife's daily driver and I don't want her complaining about the ride comfort. The deal is that the 45 series online is $25 more per tire than the 40. I also don't to have a huge gap unless there's no significant difference. Also its a 18x7.5 with a 45+ offset with 225 tire. I know 16" are 35+. Does it matter here?All opinions are welcome.

OK, I finally got my black rims with machine lip with some Falken 912 tires and they look damn good on. -Pics Later-Now my deal is that I got 215/45/18 tires which made my car a little slower of the line. Its not as quick as before. The 40 series is closer to OEM speed. I'm trying to ignore it cause it rides really good but now my rps go higher. Will this cause harm to my car? Its an 03 with 130K miles and rides like new and wish to keep it that way. Should I be concern about something?The other option is maybe selling it to a friend who wants them and getting some 40 series but then i have to lower it and maybe a harsher ride.

I can't see any harm being done to the car.But you forgot to ask the important question: How does your Wife like the look/feel/ride of the new rims 'n tires???

Well my first week the tires netted me 24mpg. So far now I am at 110 miles with a little less than 3/4 full. A little better so far. Maybe it was the bad gas.Question now is for members who have gone from 16" to 18" with 225/40 tires. Was there a very noticeable loss in get up with the smaller tire??? I see no one here used 45 tire. I might sell my set and get a different set it I know that a 40 series tires wont affect the performance.

hey keith. Love your Vibe and rims. So the loss in acceleration was noticeable even with the 40 tire you have?? I'll get used to it if I have to but it just kills the whole fun from driving this car. Its a trade off I have to think about worth having.

If the new combo causes higher revs at the same speed, I'd think that would mean the overall diameter of the tire was a bit smaller. I'd think that would mean that off the line it should be quicker. Maybe I'm wrong. If I'm right, then I'd say you probably have heavier wheels/tires than before that is slowing it down.
