My whole driver side is scratched and dented while parked at my friends place Thank goodness my friend was sitting near my car at the time and witnessed the whole thing. This pick up truck was reversing up the hill pretty fast at least 25mph and hit my car along with two other cars and then fled the scene. My friend, who was waiting for me to get back, saw the accident and called me. He didn't get down his plates but the guy lives on the same street. When I got back I called the cops and they came after a little over an hour and during that time, we saw that pick up truck drive by looking at my car's damage and we got down his plate numbers. Stupid guy parks his car few blocks away then walks home but my friends helped look for that car and found it so we were able to bring the cops there. Cop took down our statements and then they went to the guy's house knocking. Nobody answered for a while then finally that guy's wife came out saying he's not home, when cop says he saw the guy go in, then the guy came out confessing to the accident. Cops gave them the option to exchange info or go to jail...so we got the info. What an exciting night it was tho, this whole time we were sitting across the street watching lol I mean all I wanted was to get the info and don't have to get cops involved but this shady guy decided to leave and then try to act like nothing happened. Hopefully this whole thing won't take too long and my car will look normal soon lolsorry for the rambling, it's late and I'm frustrated and stressed out and needed to vent a bit =/

Thee cop should have charged him with leaving the scene of an accident.

Yeah I think the cop should have booked him or something, he was drunk when he hit my car but took the cops so long to get here he sobered up but the cop did say he smell alcohol in his breath but he was at home and nothing much they can do in regards to charging him for DUI since he wasn't driving and could have said he drank at home. I mean I don't want trouble for the guy, I go to my friend's house all the time and don't want to have any awkward moments, but he shouldn't have left. That just made it a lot worse on him...and everybody. Then after I got home last night, around 3am'ish, there was another drunk driver that ran into a parked car on my street. Loud as heck so I ran out and check and the guy tried to flee but about a block down or so his car wouldn't drive anymore lol another one busted!

That's why your insurance is higher if you do not have off street parking.

you're right about street parking.once one of my cars was totaled at sevena.m.-somebody was walking their dog and got the plate and left it on mywindshield to call the cops who found him a mile down the road.another time at night they again totaled another car but when i found it in the morning they left something behind-their license plate-cops went to herhome and gave her the bad news.your busted

Quick update, finally got my car back today and all is good.Man stupid Infinity insurance takes forever to get things done I still haven't received the check yet but should get it in a day or two so I had to pay out of pocket to fix car first. What was lame was that the guy that hit my car only had $5000 coverage and my car already had $3900'ish in damage while the other car had $1500 so there wasn't enough to cover it. Ended up getting a check for $3600'ish but good thing I found another place that fixed my car for only $3000 so I guess I can keep the rest. Still was pretty stressful going through this whole thing =/

I'm sure all of us are glad they got the scumbag. I've never had this problem with vehicles I've owned, but there was a time back in the 70s when some kid decided to run down all the mail boxes on my street. Unfortunately for him, there was a jogger out there who witnessed it and got his plate number. It was his mom's car. He was given the choice of installing new mail boxes for everybody or going to jail. It was kinda nice seeing new mail boxes everywhere. I wonder what his mom thought about the whole thing.

The good thing is at least you have someone you could pin it on. I recently became not so fortunate in that aspect... What boggles my mind in your case though is how someone only had $5,000 in property damage coverage and still was able to legally drive. With even the cheap cars pushing $15-20k these days, what the heck will $5k in coverage buy the person they hit?

I thought the minimum was at least $10K but he was driving an old beat up pick up truck so I don't know =/ I'm just happy my car's fixed and have a few hundred left over to buy a new phone hahaOh yeah, it feels great to drive my car again! Been driving my dad's 98 ford explorer and that thing eats gas like crazy and don't really like driving it at all lol it's fun to drive again now =D

Yep, as absurd as it sounds, in California the minimum required for property damage is just $5K. I know someone else that got hit, and not enough coverage. I've got $1 million coverage for injury and $100,000 for property damage and sometimes worry it should be more.

If yours cost $3900 (or whatever it was) to repair, you should get that check first thing and then let the bad driver eat the out of pocket costs. LAME.

The thing was he hit my car and another two cars, one of them was very minor and the owner didn't care but the other car had around $1500 in damage so the $5k is split between the both of us.
