Affordable "dream" cars?

I use the term "dream" very loosely...I was just thinking of a couple of cars that arent exactly exotics but are definite head turners & are somewhat affordable that I would like to own in my lifetime.I guess you can call it a "poor mans list"....???- Plymouth Prowler. Lacking high HP but a definite head turner & weekend car. Seen them go for about 30K.
http://www.seriouswheels.com/p...t.jpg- Acura NSX. Exotic looks for sure & can be driven daily. Also a head turner. 270 HP & well balanced. One of my favorite Japaneese cars. Seen them starting at 30-40Khttp://students.ou.edu/M/Jason...x.gif-DeTomaso Pantera. Italian styling ( very exotic looking ) with mid engine 330 HP Ford 351....easy to maintain & performance parts are unlimited. The exhaust sound from these cars are nothing short of amazing.Similar to a Lamborghini with the "wedge" styling. Starts at 30-40K.

This one is a easy decision for me since i bought my affordable super car 2 years ago and i have loved it every day since.2007 Dodge Magnum SRT-8 WAGON.dead nuts reliable and cheap to maintain. (put 50k miles on it last year so i know) At 80K now and still running strong.with some mod work i keep up with corvette Z06's and 911 Turbo's at the road course.run's low 12's in the quarter all day and even my wife has hoped in and run a few 12.5's on street tires at 110mph.seating for 5 plus cargo in a very spacious interior.Amazing factory sound system with removable sub and rear DVD entertainment.Drives well in snow and hauls up to a 4000lb trailer with ease with a hidden class III hitch and 7 pin harness with brake controller.gets ~22mpg on the highway and i've taken it the entire length of the east coast from Mile Marker Zero to Canada. It's buried the 180mph speedometer with some light mods and was perfectly stable and comfortable at speed. If there is anything i missed i can't think of it. To me a super car must be super all around. I have found the only affordable instance i can think of to own and jumped on it. You can buy them used for 20-25k in great condition with low miles these days so they are very affordable. They are also very limited in production only being made from 06 to spring of 08 totaling about ~3500 total SRT Magnums before being discontinued. There are under 200 of my color ever produced across all years so i even have the collectible status.I have loads of vids and pics from all these activities if anyone is curious.(i still love the Vibe, that's why i bought a second one for daily use to save the Magnum)

You can get a 5.7 Hemi with AWD used for $15-20K depending on miles and options/year. That pic is of the SRT variant which is RWD only. They do quite well on the track. This is of me terrorizing a 2007 Corvette Z06 on Hoosiers.

I'd never make it out of my neighborhood in that thing in the winter. And what's with the tape on the Vette?

If I had $30k and a building to park 'em in, I'd probably have 4-5 of my "dream cars". All from the 1960's and 70's, all with style and muscle.

Quote, originally posted by DeClerq »Nice! Too bad they don't make the SRT w/AWD. I'd never make it out of my neighborhood in that thing in the winter. And what's with the tape on the Vette?I drove my SRT in northern Maine, VT and parts of Canda the last 2 winters for ski trips. With the right tires and weight you have nothing to worry about. There is no spare tire and the rear suspension is load leveling so i would just leave 200lbs of gravel in 50lb bags in the sub floor out of sight. The car road fine and with blizzaks was unstoppable. The R/T AWD's with heads/cam upgrades can be nearly as fast as a stock SRT but the interior and brakes or an SRT are a whole different class and made the decision easy. The Vette is covering his head lamps from getting scratched from stuff off the track. This was taken at Lime Rock Part in CT and if you are running hard with another car on competition tires there is a LOT that comes up from the track and hits the nose of your car. I have loads of paint chips and rubber marks from racing this season. I am going to repaint the nose next year. My headlights look like fogged glass instead of crystal clear stock like they should. I am actually pursuing a dedicated lightweight track car for next year to save the abuse on my magnum. It is still fun to have the upgraded track suspension on the street though. Nothing like torturing $100,000+ supercars on the street with a 4600lb (with me in it) wagon. BTW, on a longer track like Monticello or The Glen that vette will eat me alive. Lime rock is all turns and few areas to let loose the extra power so i can stay with him. He's a good friend and is far from stock now after i handed him his first beating on the track. Unfortunately his pockets are much deeper than mine and i won't be keeping up with my car in its current form when he gets on a straightaway.
